Police Seek

online.wsj.com

New York police investigating a failed Times Square bombing are seeking a white man in his 40s captured on a security video looking "in a furtive manner" over his shoulder in the direction of an SUV rigged to explode that was left abandoned in one of the America's busiest neighborhoods.

The nation's top homeland security official labeled it a "potential terrorist attack." Authorities had yet to settle on who they believed was behind the plot or the motive.

The bomb—rigged from propane cannisters, gasoline cans and powerful firecrackers—could have had fatal consequences to near

Police guard the perimeter of Times Square on Sunday.

The person caught in the CCTV footage can't be a terrorist...unless it was a government operative.

Looks like it was carried out in a sloppy by partly smart manner. The bomb was primitive, but the operative(s) must have done a good job fitting license plates from the junkyard to a Nissan Pathfinder SUV, scratching off the VIN with a steel file and parking it in Times Square, 1515 Broadway, leaving the engine running and the indicators blinking, then running off into the heart of the city.

I will keep saying its the eskimos, america has one group of people left they have not tortured and killed, the eskimos, man they hate you for your freedoms.

Tell obama to go on screen and declare war on people that have nothing to do with your country the eskimos.

Amazing how the eskimos hate you for your freedoms, and you need obama to start destroying them, like how america does to anyone who does nothing to them.

There is a term you can use for americans.

So what security measures are we missing that "someone was able to drive right up to Times Square and jump out and not get caught"? Do we need checkpoints, bomb sniffers at intersections? I'm just curious what freedom we are about to lose in the name of safety.

Ding ding ding! We got a winner!

But seriously...I haven't been on ATS all weekend, but as soon as I saw this on the news, and they mentioned the Closed Circuit Camera's, I had an idea what they were pushing for, more camera's everywhere. I think they will catch this guy, and he will say it was all because of those meddling cameras! Right after they rip off his unbelievably good monster mask.
They may even call the Scoobie Gang in to solve it.

Sorry for the attempt at jokes, Supes is in a good mood today.

You know it gets awfully hot under a suit on a warm NYC evening, unfortunately for this guy he just happened to be carrying his bag and take off the suit conveniently at the same time this "incident" was taking place.

I bet there could have been hundreds of things going on in NYC that could have deemed suspicious but overseen if the car never had happened. Daily routines like this that make the Feds jumpy.
You'd at least think the guy would take off his shirt elsewhere, than on a busy street in the glare of a hundred eyes and CCTV monitors if he was up to no good.

Heck, we need a law against wearing multiple layers of clothing!

Obviously, if you wear more than one layer of clothes, you are planning to evade the police after commiting a terrorist act.

The government's responce to this is the REAL terrorist act IMO. You just know they will respond by taking away more of our freedoms and our right to privacy, all the while screaming in everyone's ears that nobody is safe from the terrorists.

First of all , seems to me that the idea of taking plates from one vehicle, and shoving them on another is pretty much widely known, and therefore you cant say that this was in any way a sophisticated act. Further more, if you cant use a metal file or grinder to remove a vin number, then quite frankly you have no motor capacity, or basic intelligence. Its a no brainer.
Futher more, there is the issue of the bomb itself. Its reported to be a rudimentary homebrewed thing, with addmittedly lethal capacity , but its nothing specialised. Simple timer, simple detonator, and not put together properly , as evidenced by the failiure to detonate.
All in all , this sounds more like a lone twit , or possibly a so called "domestic terror" group. By that I mean a bunch of slack jawed gibbering nitwits who thought that putting chemical components together with a detonator is all you need to do .

Your right in your assessment, these people will be making up stuff just to punish people that have done nothing to americans.

I say again obama needs to send in america to destroy the eskimos, they are a threat to your country they hate you for your freedoms. Isn't that why america goes around torturing and killing people, they hate you for your freedoms.

Its the eskimos.

Actually it seems that this time around they are eager to say it was NOT the Taliban . They want it to be domestic.

They are preparing for the coming unrest in America,by demonizing any civil disobedience. Domestic terrorism is the next big thing !

They just make sure to be one step ahead of you , start their own false little resistance so they can demonize anyone who does not agree with the government.

I'm betting on the American public eating it up , and obviously - do nothing.

No what i am doing is that americans are stealing info from people and then going with it. All over this world they are torturing people, and stealing info from them.

My post means they should work things out for themselves. They steal info from people, and then they go around decalring they worked out these things.

Thats how this system works.

My post is on that topic.

Its the eskimos. America has not tortured them yet and they have never done anything to america, so lets just blame them shall we. America has this right don't they to blow up anyone they want for no reason.

See where i am going.
