Soldiers viewed all Iraqis as 'scum', Baha Mousa inquiry hears

www.guardian.co.uk

An officer of the regiment detaining Baha Mousa, a Basra hotel worker, when he was beaten to death said his soldiers held the view that "all Iraqis were scum", it was disclosed today.

One officer tried to mount an "arse covering" exercise after Mousa's death, while others expressed ignorance of basic rules covering the treatment of prisoners

the army's most senior legal adviser in Iraq said that the way Iraqi detainees were intimidated and hooded by British soldiers was "repulsive".

This is nothing new of course, europeans were conditioned to treat the natives as savages, the Nazis were taught to consider jews and non-blue eyed blond haired as a waste of skin and that society needed to be cleansed, and of course today where troops are conditioned to consider muslims as rag-heads or all those other words they use.
Yes I mentioned Nazis too, please see "additional related threads" if you wish to bring up Godwin's law.

It's so very important that we chose to distance ourselves from this path of thinking... or lack thereof. If we allow this path to continue eventually there will be nothing but racists left on this planet, or you may say they won't be racist anymore since other races would be exterminated by then, only scum will remain.

We are all responsible for how the society we live in shapes itself.

Martin Luther King Jr. Said
"I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality."

We should not forget that!

Didn't Germany once believe it was a superior nation with superior people? Didn't they invade other nations to impose their will on others to spread influence?

I never used to see the link between fascism and the US but recently it started making more and more sense. It really is fascism all over again; US is being remodeled via nationalism, belief in their system as being superior to the world, run by corporations... all they really need now is a charasmatic leader and it's a new world war.

I'm sure as soon as the US shows signs of its definite collapse (or revolution of any kind), nations afraid of American intervention will probably jump start their own agendas for the next superpower generation.

This flies in the face of the tired old mantras of those in the military being "honourable" and "upright".
People seem to almost canonise anyone with a service record.
