Officials: Disputed Jerusalem Constructed Halted

JERUSALEM - The Israeli government has imposed a de facto freeze on new Jewish construction in Jerusalem's disputed eastern sector, municipal officials said Monday. The decision was made despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's public insistence that building would not be stopped in the face of U.S. pressure.

I didn't think there was a chance it was halted.....

Maybe this was just high pressure, false plans and now they say they will halt construction just to look good in the public eye?... Chances are Obama threatened to cut funding.. or even a promise for more assistance if a war did break out?...

either/or.. I hope this will stop all those protests there now. Lots o people getting hurt.

Thank God... finally someone in the Israeli government is attempting to do something that doesn't make the whole country look like a bunch of neanderthals. Whether it's for publicity or not is irrelevant, it's a small, albeit positive step that at the very least should ease tensions amongst the immediate protesters. Enough people have suffered over this nonsense.
