Meet Fergie Oliver. Professional sports broadcaster in Toronto in the 80/90's. His wife and he did a kids quiz show also. Recently someone posted a very distrubing video they made from various scenes taken from the TV show: Just Like Mom.

I saw the video on Live Leak here: www.liveleak.com...

WARNING! This could/will be very distrubing to some-but all of the scenes were broadcast on Canada National TV. You have been warned.

From print story:

Lately there’s been a video going on over the internet about a show that aired in the late 70s or early 80s, which was basically a kid’s game show. It was a Canadian show and it had stuff like quizzes and different games for the kids. The host of the show was Fergie Oliver.

The big reason of the distribution of Fergie Oliver’s videos is that he had the habit of playing with the kids who participated in the show, but he went a little overboard. I mean at first one might think that the guy just loves kids, yeah that sounds perfectly safe, but it’s when he tries to kiss little girls, especially when they are reluctant, that’s when things start pointing to the fact that he’s a pervert.

Source: news.puggal.com...

Now, what upsets me is that nothing happened to the guy or the shows producers. Watch the video. Am I wrong or should the RCMP/Cops moved in about 5 seconds after the one person is heard saying "Dirty Old Man"? And he responses to it. COME ON !!!

I checked the internet for any arrest and I didn't find anything. Not even sure if he is alive-but I did read he was suppose to be inducted into the Sport Broadcasters Hall of Fame this year.

Any of you ATSers from the area and era remember this guys and his antics? Mabye able to update what happened with this guy-if anything?

As of now, with all the increase reports of child sexual abuse, we need to stop being Politically Correct or just nice people. When this crap is observed, We the People must stop that action & demand justice-if the Gov't isn't going to do anything.

I bet some type of sick stories will emerge now that this story broke-from victims of his, probalby behind the scenes at the studio. Or his two daughers. Who knows. You tell me, am I wrong to rant about this?

Mods. I don't know it this is the right place to put this subject matter but I figured since I was ranting-this would be a good place (instead of ATS). Fel free to to move the thread if you feel the need. Thank you in advance.

Dude was creepy, but I don't know if we can call that sexual assault. Sure grossed me out though.

Yea, I am not sure that is sexual assault. Creepy as hell, obviously, but there is a fine line between creepy and sexual assault.

Sexual assault is a very serious crime.

Depending on jurisdiction, sexual assault may include rape, forced vaginal, anal or oral penetration, forced sexual intercourse, inappropriate touching, forced kissing, Child sexual abuse, or the torture of the victim in a sexual manner.

en.wikipedia.org...

Now it might be Sexual harassment, a lesser crime, I might see that.

Sexual harassment is intimidation, bullying or coercion of a sexual nature, or the unwelcome or inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors.[1] In some contexts or circumstances, sexual harassment may be illegal. It includes a range of behavior from seemingly mild transgressions and annoyances to actual sexual abuse or sexual assault.[2] Sexual harassment is a form of illegal employment discrimination in many countries, and is a form of abuse (sexual and psychological) and bullying. For many businesses, preventing sexual harassment, and defending employees from sexual harassment charges, have become key goals of legal decision-making. In contrast, many scholars complain that sexual harassment in education remains a "forgotten secret," with educators and administrators refusing to admit the problem exists in their schools, or accept their legal and ethical responsibilities to deal with it (Dziech, 1990).

en.wikipedia.org...

Being that the children were on a game show, it can be argued that they were under the employ of this man and his kisses were unwanted sexual advances and thus it could be argued that he could be guilty of sexual harassment.

Well, good enough then. I saw a bunch of stories popping up so maybe enough publicity will bring some closer look by L.E.

Thank you for your input.

Yes, creepy as hell. Did you see the little girls throat gulp when he wouldn't back off. That was enough for me.

Absolutely, and that can be argued as sexual harassment.

Now, can that be furthered, to an investigation into his personal life? Absolutely, the age of the "alleged" victims precipitates the probable cause that if he does this on air, what does he do behind the camera?

Based solely on this singular video of behavior it's hard to determine whether or not this man is a sexual predator. But it certainly does raise questions about his private behavior. Simply put, you don't kiss little girls that aren't yours like that.

Based only on the video provided, I could see a suit being filed for sexual harassment. The girls ducking the kisses could be proof enough of that. Sexual assault? Based solely on the video? I can't see that. I cannot say what happened behind the scenes or perhaps other things that may or may not have occurred.

this is just so wrong on many levels.

this is Co-ercion.

But in pornography co-ercion is fine.

In movies co-ercion is fine.

"who cares if she wants a kiss or not I'll just kiss her and see if she likes it afterwards" turns into "who cares if she wants to have sex or not I'll just (bleeP) her and see if she likes it after wards or not.

But that's hot really because it's AGGRESSIVE which is MANLY.

The video is creepy but it wasn't a reoccurring thing. One of the categories for this show was "Hugs and Kisses", I'm not saying that justifies anything, but it only happened this one episode.

Let's just say I go to one of my tenant's apartments, and then in front of the parent I force or trick a young child to kiss me against the child's will.

I'm in a power situation and in control because I'm the landlord, but this case it's a gameshow host. Still a situation of dominance because the cameras are rolling, a studio audience is watching, and he makes it all look like a fun part of the show......

As a parent I would dive across the desk and pound the old perv into the stage.
Not only do the girls look very uncomfortable, but the mothers keep this false grin on their faces like it's all good fun.

I don't see this as any sort of sexual abuse, but still, very creepy.

Times change, and I'm sure the sexual proclivities of the ancient Roman society would put the modern world into a state of shock. Or not, with all the sex scandals today that involve children just prove we are just about the same as we were 2000 years ago.:shk:

Inappropriate? = YES
Creepy? = YES
Illegal? = NO, I don't think so...

But, it certainly would prompt one to look into him a bit closer... I suppose this kind of thing went more unnoticed back then perhaps...but yeah, I can't see how someone didn't look into him further... My guess is this guy has way more deviant behaviors away from the cameras....
