I have been trying to get up to 200 posts for years but I seem to do a lot of reading and not a lot of posting.

Maybe the access to chat should be EITHER 200 posts or 6 months registration or something?

Good point-with the time length concept.

Maybe a new member/chatter could have the name highlighted somehow (at least to the MOD) so they could be observed a little more until they satisfy the MOD they are good to go and not looking for trouble.

Both great ideas, Also if chatter gets out of line, perhaps have the ability to report them, with a snipet of the chat showing the problem.

Though i suppose this adds more work to the entire process? 200 posts seems a lot, but i imagine it does weed out the problem childs.

It'll help the user more than anything. After 200 posts it's easy to see what is and isn't acceptable, which is EXTREMELY important in the chat, because if you step out of line you could be banned instantly. So think of it as a way to help you.
