What?

The TEA party started off as a good thing.

Now it's just a bunch of pissed off Republicans who are butthurt cause a black Democrat is in office.

Yeah, I said it.

The TEA Party has nothing to do with Republicans ... in fact many of their members are Democrats, Independents, and even 3rd party members.

The same TEA party that anointed Sarah Palin as their de-facto leader?

Sorry, but any legitimacy to the movement is long gone.

And you really don't believe that the TEA party is overwhelmingly Republican? You don't find it odd that they started the protests shortly after Obama took office, yet somehow didn't have any cause for complaint during 8 years of constitution trampling during Bush's admin?

Their not that sneaky..

We know who all their workers are, and it would take them at least 30 years to corrupt the system again.

You can't put/have laws on the books that are there to harm people and inflict some program of thought control for a geo/corporate/political entity.

SuperSize doesn't work, it just makes people fat/lazy/greedy and dedicates the most resources to the people who need it the least.

Anything as large as the NWO was destined to fail at inception because it was not built for the people but to enslave them

Everyone go back and re-read ALL the posts on this thread and you will clearly see the problem we face. It isn't TPTB, it's us. Or in the famous words of Pogo, "We have met the enemy and he is us."

Even IF regions of the U.S. seceded, the very same corporate power interests would be in place to control them. And being smaller entities it would be even easier to do.

We have to change OUR way of thinking. Look back over the thread and see how many people blame one party or the other for our problems. They each think that by putting THEIR party of choice in power everything will be hunky-dory. If you seriously believe that our problems are because of Obama OR Bush; or the Republicans OR the Democrats you are, in plain language, a moron. YOU are the people ENABLING the power elite top continue to screw us.

You want REAL change? Vote against both parties (or any candidate that has been a longterm member of either party). Breaking-up the country will achieve nothing. Breaking-up the political machine that is systematically raping it is the answer. The ONLY answer.

Long Island already was a nation unto itself in the 40s-60 with the experiments at Montauk Point. They had autonomous authority and an unlimited budget, with no Congressional oversight. Some of us know about this, what they did there. You can keep Long Island, friend, and be happy with it. Just tear down the tower and blast the underground base, and we will all be OK.

ok we vote against both parties...then what?? have you end-gamed this idea at all? who's in charge and what type of change will you get out of them when they get in office? the phrase "grass is greener on the other side of the fence" comes to mind.

What is the tea party going to do with the large number of elderly among it's members once they secede from the Union? Will this new nation be able to care for it's elderly citizens or will they be left to rot in poverty and starvation?

Exactly right.

But maybe we should support this secession idea. We could carve off the South from the U.S. and invite all the angry Northern rednecks to go back home to Alabammy or wherever the heck their families were originally from. Then we could have a cushion from Mexico and a USA that will be more like Canada Lite. That would be sweet.

Both existing parties are intertwined with big business and the elite. These are the people pulling the strings. It has gone on for generations but the level of arrogance ith which it is being done now is unprecedented. The only way to break that entrenched system is to go back to the Constitution and states/individual rights and that can only happen by getting people into power that have not been bought-and-paid-for. We also need to reverse the unprecedented concentration of power in this country to prevent big business/elite/special interests from being able to conecentrate their power/money/influence on a relatively small number of individuals. We need to restore balance and accountability to government.

There are no guarantees that ANY solution will be perfect. We know, however, that the current system has been infiltrated, compromised and is being manipulated by the power-elite. We don't need a secessionist movement. We simply need to restore government to its current, legal form via the Constitution. We need a major housecleaning.

Meh, my ultimate wish is for Long Island to become a self governing autonomous region of the United States (much like a British Overseas Territory or the Isle of Man within the UK)

Would that include Brooklyn and Queens? What happens if if the Hamptons people don't want to join? As a Brooklynite, I can assure you pretty much nobody here would want to join an independent Long Island.

I've heard of people in Nassau County wanting Long Island to split from New York and become its own state, but that seems to be a Nassau County thing, only, so far as I can tell. Making L.I. semi-autonomous is a new one on me.
