"They're saying, 'Where do we get the free Obama care, and how do I sign up for that?' " said Carrie McLean, a licensed agent for eHealthInsurance.com. The California-based company sells coverage from 185 health insurance carriers in 50 states.

McLean said the call center had been inundated by uninsured consumers who were hoping that the overhaul would translate into instant, affordable coverage. That widespread misconception may have originated in part from distorted rhetoric about the legislation bubbling up from the hyper-partisan debate about it in Washington and some media outlets, such as when opponents denounced it as socialism.

"We tell them it's not free, that there are going to be things in place that help people who are low-income, but that ultimately most of that is not going to be taking place until 2014," McLean said.

Not having an excuse for something has never stopped us before. Yeah there are even posters here on THIS SITE who think that it means free healthcare.

Also, the average American who might actually call one of the centers probably doesn't spend money on an internet connection and or cable TV, and Im willing to bet good money they don't subscribe to a newspaper.

If the congressmen who voted on it cant even comprehend whats in the bill, what chance does the average joe have?

Hospitals should (and im pretty sure do) offer life saving services when needed, but I dont want my premiums going to pay for some top tier butt clown who gets his elective surgery covered because he has a more comprehensive plan than I do.

I have been paying into a cobra BC/BS plan for over three years and havent stepped foot in a doctors office during that time, because if i did my premiums would double, and god forbid they find something serious, because then I wouldnt be able to be covered anymore.
