www.timesonline.co.uk

Israel will send its most senior military strategist to China this week to convince Beijing that it is serious about plans to bomb nuclear facilities in Iran if international sanctions fail to curb Tehran’s development of atomic weapons.

The visit, part of an intense round of diplomacy between China and Israel, follows signs that Beijing will shortly back tougher economic sanctions against Iran at the United Nations security council.

Now this whole Israel-Iran face off has been endlessly discussed for the past couple of years. In fact, it looks like there is a pattern in this so-called tense diplomatic standoff. Israel talks about the urgency of sanctions or the likelihood of imminent military action, Iran makes some "end-of-the-world" style apocalyptic statement in response, diplomats of international powers(read U.S, E.U, China and Russia) make some shuttle trips between Beijing, Moscow, E.U Capitals and D.C and then things come to a standstill. Then after a while, there are some lack luster sanctions imposed on Iran. Iran appears to be least bothered or pressurized by these sanctions. In this way, the whole cycle simply starts again.

This article had some interesting tidbits in it...Isreal telling China their war with Iran could cut China's oil supply, China taking Obama more serious now that he has done something in Washington (health care) that they may have to recognize him as a more serious possibly two term president.
what else was there....oh yea, this
"In a move described as “incredibly rare”, China sent a general to Tel Aviv last week to inspect the Israeli air force’s strike capabilities. "

Deffinately in intersting article.
