'Be my guest,' repeal healthcare, Obama tells GOP

www.presstv.ir

President Obama has dared Republicans to run on a platform of repealing the healthcare reform bill, after he signed the bill into law Tuesday.

"Now that we passed it, they're already promising to repeal it," he said. "They're actually going to run on a platform of repeal in November. And my attitude is, go for it," President Obama said ...

This is pretty funny, if you ask me. The image of Obama on the New Site I've referenced definitely could use a quote on my Political Image of the Week thread!

That being said, even though this all seems to me to be a cat and mouse slap stick drama being played out for the American people to get distracted by, My question is - what other things are creeping in the darkness of the unaware?

We'll see just how smug Obama's attitude stays IF America elects a majority of Republicans to both Senate and HOR this November.

If that happens, I guarantee you 100% that he will be s****ing bricks and singing a different tune.

His arrogance reminds me of some of history's dictators - Mussolini in particular. Every leader's reign comes to an end eventually and then the pendulum swings the other way. Of course that is assuming he does give up his reign after losing the next presidential election.

Exactly. An ideologue and an egomaniac. His behavior is disconcerting, with no regard for those with opposing views.

Let's all remember the end Mussolini met.

Just wondering why the source article is from Iran...

While I don't doubt what they quoted the President as saying, I just question the motive of the Iranian press for this article.

And who is gonna be s****ing bricks when exactly the opposite happens?

What I find hilarious is the section where he states that "If Republicans want to tell small business owners that they plan on repealing their tax credits..." etc, etc... so, you're saying that small business owners won't be happy when they find out that the tax credits they needed to pay for this monstrosity of a health care bill are gone... and so is the monstrosity? As is the headache-inducing amount of paperwork they had to fill out?

I revel in the idea of healthcare reform... but this bill, which neither provides a public alternative to HMOs nor increases the quality of coverage, that simply ups the demands on an already greedy private health care system furthering their desire to increase premiums... ugh. In one sentence, he basically outlined how to defeat his own bill for anyone who can read analytically.

I think that what he is stating is the height of arrogence on his part. He is better that the tax credits that is being offered will be enough to use to counter the republican posturing and platform.
But here is what is going to happen in November. There will be a three way fight for the different seats that are coming up for reelection. If the public wants the health care, they will reelect the encumbents, if not, then they will either elect a republican or an independent.
If the democrats loose the majority, the president will end up being a lame duck for the rest of his term. If the people going back into office continue on politics as normal, it will end up being far worse in 2 years as I believe that there will be more independents that are elected into office.

yeah, it seems a lot of news about America comes from other countries.

Kinda odd, huh?

Maybe they're exposing Obama for his immaturity and arrogance. Who knows...

Wait just a minute their J R.

Let me see, what would be the definition of some mandating a citizen purchase something.

What exactly could that be?

You know, you are just playing.

We have here the first ever socialist/fascist(corporatist) hybrid system. Maybe not the first or even all by ourselves, I feel a couple round the world could be compared to us though.

Anyway, flame on peeps.

Trade you for a single payer system with the states controlling the lockbox for the help in taking down the Federal Reserve system.

Up for tradseys?

That's a HUGE hypothetical. Odds are low. 1 in 10 at best. And there is still the veto pen. The repubs need 2/3 majority in both houses or wait until he's out of office.

Anyone living in reality knows repeal is just red meat rhetoric. My question is what happens when they can't deliver ? Anybody far enough right to have the credibility to question the constitutionality of it, could never achieve a plurality of the electoral college.

The law has a lot of problems, but the mainstream GOP is disingenious on this issue. During the early 90's health care debate, Senator Grassley and Orin Hatch sponsored legislation that (drum roll) mandated everyone buy health insurance !!!! Mitt Romney is on tape during the 2008 primary debates saying he supports mandated coverage.

The way I see it, both sides work for the insurance companies. The insurance companies didn't want any reform at all. The GOP tried to take the hard line position. But they lost.

But insurance companies or any corp with billions at stake, don't keep all their eggs in one basket. They are falling back with the democratic bill, which is a lot better for them than it would have been if someone like Kucinich wrote the bill and basically put the whole health care system under a not for profit umbrella. That would be a "govt take over".

The bill that was passed is quite moderate. It still gives the ins companies way too much ground, they didn't even strip away their anti-trust exemptions, but I think it's a better outcome than the status quo.

The insurance corp's are out of control. They tried to get away with too much. 20-30% annual increases year after year was unsustainable. May as well work to make it better. This turkey of a law isn't going anywhere. Sorry GOP. You're not getting a do-over. You got your Waterloo. As David Frum said, the worst political defeat for the party in 40 years.

prolly cuz Iranian website is not sponsored by
nor censored by big brother in DC.

It's kinda ironic that lots of Americans are
switching to get their un-biased news from
foreign gov websites like Iran, Russia with RTAmerica
etc... Big Brother does not control those.
And guess what??? we do get more un-biased
articles from our enemies than we do our own
gov. That is so f***** sad

Cuz American journalists who report articles
against gov gets executed. See the wikileaks
pentagon murder video due out April 5.

Oh, sure. Look to what happened in Massachusetts as an example and you'll come to realize that continued Democrat dominance in Congress after November is a pipe dream.

the article is also published on the ABC NEWS website - so it's not just an article from Iran...
