Ok, just a theory to throw in the mix.

I recently heard that some Bamboo blooms every 120 years or so:

In fact, many bamboos only flower at intervals as long as 60 or 120 years.

Wiki

...which raises the question: How do they keep track of the time?

Which raises another question:

...are there longer intervals for other life forms to "bloom"?

Which got me thinking about all the 2012 hype;

perhaps the Maya kept track of massive 'bloom' cycles?

Well, that is just absurd, pluto have an orbit of 248 years, and the guy seeing it for the first time lived for 300 years, he saw pluto at the Start point, and when it was at that point Again, it took 248 years, so science say, with 50 years with satelittes Etc..

Interesting, pretty possible, since they were master farmers. They even planted in huge pits to experiment with shade and temperature among other factors.

Perhaps they only went as far as 2012 because the calendar could be recycled after 2012 so to speak?
