Montreal hockey league defends Passover game

A Montreal hockey league says it can't reschedule a playoff game that a West Island midget team says it will be forced to forfeit because of Passover.

The Dollard-des-Ormeaux midget B Civics are upset with their regional league for scheduling the game during one of the most important Jewish holidays, which starts at sundown on March 29.

Devin Goldman, 15, said his team won't have enough players available for the game because many of them are Jewish.

Speaking about Quebec and "reasonable accommodations"...

I came across this tidbit of news. A hockey team is complaining that the scheduling of a very important hockey game is making them have to choose between the game and their faith.

The league refuses to change the game date as it would disrupt the following provincial playoff's scheduling as well.

The nerve that some people have in thinking everyone needs to get what they want.

sorry , but the ` Dollard-des-Ormeaux midget B Civics ` are just going to have to be upset

judism is not the official state religion of canada . so the fixture list has to be drawn up to suit rink availiability and give teams a reasonable rest period between games , not pander to every religious holiday out there

Canada is supposed to be a secular... I do agree with what you are saying though. There is no way this should be an issue at all...
