Close encounters of a Norfolk kind: Glowing green UFO spotted hovering over windmill

While he was there he didn't hear or see anything unusual and it is only when he got home to King's Lynn that he realised there was something odd about the images he'd taken.
The green light was on some images but not others indicating it was not a smudge on his lens and it appeared to have moved from right to left.
Plane? Helicopter? Gyrocopter? The theories abound in and around the villages close to the windmill, which is 30 miles from an RAF base, about what went on that February night.
Lindsay Abel, manager of the windmill, told Mail Online: 'It is very strange it has to be said.'
She said the building was an aerial landmark for pilots and had even been used as a navigational tool during World War II.
'The Germans used it in the war when they headed up to the Midlands to bomb,' she said.
'Maybe the UFO looking down saw these strange sails and wondered what the hell it was!'

Malcolm Robinson, founder of Strange Phenomena Investigations, said he thought the photograph showed a Chinese lantern.

He said: '[Chinese lanterns] can be from 2 to 6 feet across and a candle can be lit inside them whereupon the individual then releases them into the sky.

'Chinese lanterns have given rise to many a false UFO report here in the UK.
'What I think has happened here is that the paper which makes up the Chinese Lantern could have been made of green paper and the candle would shine through the green paper turning the image/light to green.

'When photographed, the cold night air would intensify around the light making it blur for the camera.'
The 19th century windmill stopped working in 1941 when its sails were struck by lightning but has since been restored and is the last working windmill in Norfolk.

I know what I think.

What do you think?

I saw something similar last year (I posted about it if I can find the post!) but it was the same day the Space Shuttle had taken off and it was generally thought Id seen a peice of the boosters burning up in the atmosphere. Not sure as Im in the UK and this green glowing thing didnt seem to be burning up as such but you never know, Im just not sure. With me seeing it on the same day the Shuttle took off its not clear cut.

I'm going with artifact caused by the strong outlight at the base of the windmill.

This is not a real UFO it is a kind of lense flare.

and a really really realy obviouse one too!!

All the best,

Korg.

Yeah, it's a neat photo but you can tell it's a flare from the light source below.

I'm not too sure I'm sided with the artifact description, the light from below on the picture is completely yellow so how that would change to green is beyond me.

It also looks like the aura of the object has a solid outline.. wish I wasn't at work so I could take the pic and have a closer look but I definitely will be doing so later.

Very clear pic for once aswell, nice one OP

I'll go with lens flare too. I'd rather not, but, hey, that's the most likely cause.

Nobody noticed that there's twoof 'em?

G'day

Thanks for discussing this report & picture

It seems the consensus here is the "object" is a lens artifact.

That's what I though when I posted the article.

It's very obvious.....

If you have a look at this enlargement, you can even see a lens artifact (i.e. the white line) connecting the lower light & the "object".

You would think a photographer like him would know this

He must have just gone out bought that expensive equipment and this was his first photo shoot.

It's definitely looks like a lens flare, I'm surprised
the photographer didn't recognise something that
occurs regular when snapping shots in the evening.

Unless he's getting ready for 'silly season'!

I recall an evening a few years ago, when Saucy
Cyril and myself were trying to pick out planets.
Cyril had brought his Barska Gladiator telescope
and I remember his excitement when he said
around his stubby cigar "we're gonna look for
Uranus tonight"

I had brought my trusty Canon PowerShot camera
and after clicking at a few strange lights, I sat and
watched Cyril searching the stars.

About half hour later, Big Len from the Taxidermist
shoppe passed by and I noticed the box of red sticks
he was carrying.
The grin on his face implied mischief.

Sure enough, we both watched in surprise as Len
ran passed us with no clothes on and a bright burning
flare in each chubby hand.

The next day, when we checked my images, we
found several Len's flares that looked remarkably
like Ufos.

IT'S A LENS FLARE!

G'day greeneyedleo

That's what I thought.

Here's a link to another news article that Internos just sent me.....thanks mate

www.thesun.co.uk...

The Sun page won't let me copy the picture (please feel free to see if you can extract it if you think it's worth posting).

If you loook at the 2 pic slideshow, the 2nd pic shows the "object" clearly in front of the windmill blade.

I guess the small white 2nd artifact (to the left of the large green artifact) simply correlates with the smaller white light that can be seen on the wall of the building.

Kind regards

G'day A boy in a dress

I hope very much you will not be sending us any photos of your "butt naked" UFO hunting.....

In fact I hope very, very, very much we don't see them.

No Sir... that would be wrong and I've been warned
when I joined up here!
Those photos are for my astronomer friend Noel 'the eye'
He's right into space and even has blueprints for a DeathStar!

I've been contemplating going to a Planetarium... like the
one James Dean frequented in the movie 'Rebel Without Claws'

It's good to hear from you again, Mr. Green.
Yes...everything about it indicates lens flare.

Purple on the top, green on the bottom, UFO in between:

So it could happen sitting low in the sky.

I saw a UFO when I was 11 that looked exactly like this, except for the fact it also had some Blue pulsating mixed in with the Green.
