Robbers Drop Through Ceiling Of Gastonia Food Lion

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A small army of police scoured a wooded area in Gastonia Monday for two men who pulled off a startling crime.

The robbers ambushed workers at a Food Lion and then held several customers at gunpoint.

While these type of incidents do occur frequently enough I am really a bit taken aback by the police in this news story. SWAT officers dressed in combat fatigues with military type weapons patrolled the area after this robbery. An insignia on the back of the officers camo uniforms read F.O.D. A department I am not familiar with.

Anyhow watch the video at the news link and let me know your thoughts. Should police look like military? Shouldn't they simply have POLICE written on their uniforms?
