I am not sure if this is the place for this. If it is not then I am sorry for putting it here.

Mod edit: the following link is, per the author, a satirical piece and is not factual
www.counterpunch.com...

This is the second news report I have seen like this. The first was on google new for about 30 min before it was removed. It was an news report on Collen Powell. I don't remember all of it , but it was something along the lines that the U.S gov knew there was no WMD.

I was wondering if anyone else have seen news reports like this . Only to have them removed?

Right or wrong this is damning

And its burning thru the Arab internet sites.................

www.shiachat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=32711

He's not a dumb person by any count.............

This was deliberate. Even if it makes no sense for any reason. It was deliberate.

The question is why? What the hell is going on?

The ***** have the bomb and a large population of fundies which could bring down the government and hand carry that sucker all the way to Crawford and fightwith each other to do so.

(Removed word that could be seen as offensive)

PS

I have searched the web and other news sources for confirmation of this story - other then the reprints and links coursing thru Arab/Islamic sites - I can not find independent confirmation. What's up?

Can anyone get confirmation or offical denials?

This is the blockbuster "admission":

"There were no enemy fighters in the area," said Senor. "Our soldiers knew that the only people in the village were Iraqi civilians. They went ahead and attacked anyhow. It's a form of terror we use often."

Excuse me? Did an American official sent over by the WH to be the PR person for this mess really say that?

He's saying we are, in essence, we are murderers and terrorist. It's beyond belief.

The bottom of that page says:

"Warning! This is satire! Although factually untrue, it tells the
truth! Read at your own risk."

Sounds like an opinion, supported by a fictional story

I thought that was refering to the link under it. I would think that if that warning was for the above story that it would be displayed before the story.

This is a satire piece.
It is NOT TRUE

Once again, I repeat.......this story is NOT TRUE.

This is not a very nice thing to do and is not amusing at all.

We should have a forum for jokers.

g, do you have some links to it being reported as true on other sites??
I think we'd be interested to see that. I know I would.

Journalistic integrity my ass. *sighs*

Satire can most certainly be true. But not on Fox Channel.

The truth can be profoundly strange and destroy one's sense of trust in one's leaders or elected officials.

Pick your "truths" carefully, and don't have them dictated to you. Question sources. Understand who owns what media and why. Stop swallowing the BS that is served up to you.

etc etc etc, in keeping with the motto of this site, sometimes supported by members, sometimes not.

I interpret gmcnulty as meaning that many Arabic readers see the whole wedding party story as true, not that the particular interpretation placed on it by CounterPunch with its stretch on what American military leadership ought to be saying as true.

It is an exercise in revealing gullibility. There is too much of that in the western readership of internet sites (I dare not restrict that to the unique form of middle American gullibility), as well as in the Arab readership.
