theteapartyisover.org...

I stumbled across this just a little while ago and thought maybe it'd interest some on here, even if for nothing other than a quick laugh.

Our Strategy is simple. This movement is a fad. Some of their ideas include the belief that programs like Social Security and Medicare are socialistic and should never have been created in the first place and that President Obama is a Socialist. Other ideas include undermining the legitimacy of the federal government in favor of a radical rightwing form of state’s rights. We need to prevent their dangerous ideas from gaining a legislative foothold. So our strategy is to spread the truth about their dangerous ideas and prevent their policies from taking root in America.

Interesting ... it says at the bottom of the page that it is paid and approved by The American Public Policy Committee.

But, so far as I can gather, www.opensecrets.org... is a non partizan organization documenting campaign contributions. At least that how they describe themselves.

So ... either this is in fact who is behind this site, or, perhaps the site itself is an attempt to discredit APPC.

I shall send them an email and find out.

Argh - disregard!!! the above, I got myself confusered with links.

Ok ... the donors to the organization known as the American Public Policy Committee are a group called Patriot Majority. According to www.opensecrets.org...

1 Democratic Governor's Assn $60,000
2 York Building Products $50,000
3 Alliance for North Carolina $20,635
4 Midwest Alliance for Better Government $317
5 Total of Contributions Under 200 $100

I did a few searches through google and the like for this American Public Policy Committee, but came up with absolutely nothing except the page on opensecrets.org that you linked. Am I simply not seeing it or is there really very little information out there on them?

Here is their disclosure info-

American Public Policy Committee: Donor Search

It seems that the donors to this are The Patriot Majority and The Patriot Majority West. Found this at NPR-

Parting Shots From The Left

From the link-

Patriot Majority reported getting $1.5 million from AFSCME this month, as well as $125,000 from the Teamsters and $25,000 from Patricia Bauman, who is president of the liberal Bauman Foundation and board member of Catalist, a data-mining firm that works for Democrats.

Looks to be like a Union of Government employees maneuver to try and derail the Tea Party Conservative movement.

Don't you like the asshat's naming themselves Patriots.

Patriot Majority Wades Into House Races

Also from open secrets-

These are the funders of THE SUPPOSED Patriot Majority-what a frelling joke of a name! Notice the donors like SEIU and the Union of government employees!

1 American Fedn of St/Cnty/Munic Employees $5,800,000
2 Service Employees International Union $770,000
3 Change to Win $500,000
4 Patriot Majority West $300,000
4 Communications Workers of America $300,000
6 Teamsters Union $250,000
7 Patriot Majority Midwest $161,000
8 United Food & Commercial Workers Union $125,000
9 Bauman Foundation $25,000
10 American Affordable Health Care $11,874
11 Oklahoma Freedom Fund $10,469
12 Pennsylvania AFL-CIO $6,500
13 Bluegrass Freedom Fund $5,000
14 Public Security Now $920
15 American Public Policy Cmte $861

Looks like it is backed by FEDERAL/STATE/CITY employees. Of course, why would federal employees be against the Tea Party Movement? Maybe because they want smaller government!

Only in America!

edit to tone it down, okay SD. Looks like the government employees could really care less about the US. They only care about themselves.

SOP for government employees I guess.

Bad thing about the tea party groups, they really don't agree with much. They want smaller govt. which I agree with, but they really can't agree on much else. Then they have the current republicrats trying to get in on the action. Unfortunately these days if you say tea party, you're immediately branded a right winger.

I think the tea party is basically a political party of its own. I have no doudt they would vote for any one of any party aslong as they were constitutionalists.

NUKE THE LIBERALS!!

Eek ein ... the screaming, why?

Hey listen, I don't pimp for either side but I'm pretty sure democrats are allowed to be patriots no?

And yeah, it looks like a few gov. unions are behind the site, which kinda makes sense like you said ... but, that's what unions do right, look after their members interests? Nothing particularly nefarious about it.

Look at them all with their little websites ... they think they're accomplishing something.

American Public Policy Committee, but only our policy. Again, freedom of speech as long as we agree with it. Otherwise, shut up.

Now that I have shown the people behind the message, let's look at the message-

From the link-

To prevent the Tea Party's dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction.

Preventing smaller government and accountability to constiuents must be a BAD thing in their eyes. Now we know who's eyes they are speaking about.

Our Strategy Our Strategy Our Strategy is simple. This movement is a fad. Some of their ideas include the belief that programs like Social Security and Medicare are socialistic and should never have been created in the first place and that President Obama is a Socialist. Other ideas include undermining the legitimacy of the federal government in favor of a radical rightwing form of state’s rights.

Yeah, that RADICAL view that is the basis of our Constitutional Republic! Those damn states have no frelling rights in THEIR view. Might just as well burn the Constitution and get it over with!

We need to prevent their dangerous ideas from gaining a legislative foothold. So our strategy is to spread the truth about their dangerous ideas and prevent their policies from taking root in America.

Yeah, those RADICAL ideas of People's Rights and State Sovereignty! When will these idiots realize they are calling for the destruction of the US and the Constitution!

Here is their contact [email protected]

I am sending them a copy of the Constitution with the 10th Amendment highlighted!

Frelling morons!

I'm not really sure but I don't think so ... this is pretty standard MO for loads of agenda pimping groups across the web.

Plus it actually kinda stupid and counterproductive, typical for left wingers who can't ever do evil stuff right.

Cognitive infiltration, if any, happened when the original tea party movement was annexed by the GOP. Once that happened the whole thing became irrelevant as far as an independent voice imho.

Too bad too because there was something fundamentally virtuous at its core ... but you just knew they weren't going to let that carry on for too long.

Good call. Here is a link to what Flakey is talking about-

Obama staffer wants 'cognitive infiltration' of 9/11 conspiracy groups

It seems government or government employees are allowed to spread disinfo. I guess that is what their NEW role is, to teach us idiotic masses' what to think about fellow citizens that are sick and tired of big bankster/corporate/government.

I don't think I'd call it "cognitive infiltration" but propaganda seems a more fitting term to me.

Edit: Nevermind, I was beaten to it twice, both with good points.

It's about time the left stops letting those whackjobs steal the airwaves and claim, incorrectly, that they are the majority.

"The majority of American's don't want Obama policy A, B, or C"

Ya know, where was this majority in November of 2008? Then you wouldn't have anything to complain about...oh...what's that? You did go out and vote? Well then...you're not the majority, are you?

...yes I just had a conversation with a pretend Tea Party 'patriot'.

I think he meant that liberals are a**hats and are not patriots. Truth is there are plenty of patriotic democrats. There are no patriotic "LIBERALS" that I have seen though.
