is war a distraction?

war can sometimes be used as a distraction, used by leaders to divert the public's attention from a negative thing (such as their poor leadership qualities).
If people are starting to doubt their leader's ability, war is a good way to stop them thinking about that.
When a country goes to war everyone pulls together to try and get through. That is what everyone thinks about. If the war is won (which is very likely for america if war is what they come to) people thank their leader and support is encouraged.

even when the war is won... Even war can't distract us from that.... (and I'm for the war, lol!)
