There was one in the Cayman Trench but excluded that area as not being relevant - it is outside the GOM anyway.

More to the point just 24 miles from Pelee. Remember 1902 (Well I don't quite but...)

this says new year 2010 but it is streaming and there was sound! The whole city was lit up with fireworks, so cool!
It's still going on and its been an hour! Wish I were there.

I found it , it was in 2006 !! good grief where do the years go? seems like it was just yesterday

Sooo....you guys might be interested in knowing that earlier today I reported hearing some rumbling to my NW, estimating it near the south end of Vancouver Island. I just checked todays updated tremor map, and there were 58 deep tremors on the south end of vancouver island!!! Hmmmmm.....

Hi, wondering with all of the flooding happening world wide if it will cause quakes in the future and if so how long after these torrential floods can we expect them and to what degree?

As you know I only occasionally pop in so any replies can be made in the 'reply' so I can find the answers in the morning.

It will probably take a few months for the final final figures for 2010 to come in, especially as most of the scientists at GNS will likely be lying on the beach or hiking in the hills until mid January on their summer holidays but FWIW

In 2010 there were 23,109 recorded earthquake events with determined magnitudes;

43 events from -0.272 to 0.998ML
4002 events 1.006 to 1.999ML
14444 events 2.0 to 2.999ML
4188 events 3.0 to 3.999ML
391 events 4.0 to 4.999ML
37 events 5.01 to 5.905ML
2 events 6.0 and 1 at 6.532ML
1 event 7.1Mw

and 530 located events of undetermined magnitude

up on last year, which itself was was a biggie because of the Dusky Sound 7.2ML (7.6Mw)

Okay all you Quake-watchers out there... keep all your senses peeled for the following and report anything you see!

Hi Robin, We have moved to Quake Watch 2011. Also, check out Putermans signature - he has links to instruments all over the place.

Some very good links in the OP. Has anyone ever done a cross reference of past and current quakes? Are we ramping it up as we near 2012 or not?
