While the world verily seeks information on the Abu Gharib scandel, whether or not the Nick Berg video is legitimate and seeks more data on the "wedding" bombing other important events are occuring that don't make the news due to the void caused by the more politically attractive stories that are out in the media now.

As we make the administration hop, skip and jump to our fickle tunes, using up time and resources for rehashing what already is old news - what is going under the radar screen?

Heres an interesting story thats not getting noticed,
Report Urges Tighter Nuclear Controls

"Sen. Joseph R. Biden Jr. wondered aloud one day in 2002 whether someone could build an atomic weapon from parts available on the open market. His audience, the leaders of the government's nuclear laboratories, said it could be done"

"A few months later, they returned to the soundproof Senate meeting room with a workable nuclear weapon, missing only the fissile material."

"The scientists "explained how -- literally off the shelf, without doing anything illegal -- they actually constructed this device."

" Bunn and Wier, analysts at the Project on Managing the Atom, challenge the argument that the danger of terrorists assembling a bomb and acquiring fissile material is small, unless sponsored by a nuclear-capable government."

"We believe that this view is profoundly wrong," the authors write. They contend that the availability of nuclear designs and the work of U.S. weapons scientists in the Biden experiment prove their point."

Granted these were scientist's with the know how to build the device, but and its a big but, there are a number of highly educated persons within terrorist organizations such as Al Qaida, there are many scientist's from the old Soviet block where enough money may make it attractive to sell their services and there are nations such as Iran and North Korea that would be afraid to make a direct attack (knowing the result) but willing to provide the fissionable material to an organization not traceble back to them.

Not so long ago one would assume that national governments were the only organizations capable of fielding a true Atomic weapon. Now because of what has been demomstrated by the U.S. scientist's we have to worry that not only is it likely that a dirty bomb will be used, but that an actual Atomic bomb is in the realm of the possible.

Plans for nuclear bombs have been circulating the web for over a decade.

Plans are one thing, it was always thought that it would take a national government effort to build one, now thats not the case.

Its news because of this statement,
"The scientists "explained how -- literally off the shelf, without doing anything illegal -- they actually constructed this device."

The whole point of my post that seems to be being missed is that it has been demonstrated that construction of a device is not as hard as some think, therefore it should no longer be dismissed as it has been in the past.

Actually I had a series of dreams or nightmares about this kind of event.. I posted about it here:

June 9 2011 ATS Thread

I have pretty much written it all off as a result of watching too much news and too much reading of good fiction.. I am still amazed that my mind was able to come up with it.

I do believe it is possible that one day someone or a group will pull off a nuclear attack with a "home made" bomb.

Lets hope not!

In 1997 russian arms dealers set up the sale of 50 stinger-style missiles and portable nukes with FBI agents in Florida.

There have not only been nukes for sale on the black market for awhile, but for sale on US territory.

Nukes aren't hard to get for some people, they are just hard to get by terrorist because its not in the Russian Mobs best interest to see America suffer economicly.

if you PAY THE PRISE you've got them !
you can bet on that !
no matter who or what you are they just want money for it.
(you can have it done by a "neutral" middleman you know but then the price is going up a bit because you have to pay the middleman too.)

Just by coincidence? or is the threat more imminent than we know? The government made this announcement today.

VIENNA (Reuters) - The United States has launched an initiative to secure all the Russian and U.S. nuclear material scattered across the globe to keep it out of the hands of rogue states and terrorists seeking atomic weapons.

U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham gave details of the initiative in a speech on Wednesday to members of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
