Yes what a fine military we have in the U.S. and countries around the globe! What better way to employ the poor, needy, and uneducated! What other job do YOU have that can offer free health care, education, and a stable income with the opportunity to have almost any career you ever thought about having as a full or part time job AND WITH GUNS!?

If the poor are getting poorer and eking your way through middle class just doesn't cut it for you then you should enlist!

You'll never think about leaving the military industrial complex again when you get inside and realize and scary it might be to find a job on the outside with this kind of help! And if your tired of active duty, just GO GUARD! and be deployed half the time**!

Don't worry if you screw up! We'll just take some of your money away so you can pay us back later with more service time, since that's what you want anyway!

Yeah its just the trend I see and I am sure you see it too. Why else would young men and women kill other or their own people... Got to take care of number 1! If we don't follow orders we're #ed by the system.

And heck! Do we not only outsource civilian jobs to 3rd world countries we outsource military jobs too! Hey, the more desperate the recruit from the more deprived country, the more he'll be eager to let us tell him what to do even if its executing the same people who live under the same flag that he serves!

Boy what a great military we have to offer all these poor countries a job in such a healthy military industrial complex.

Its easy to see the mistakes of the past if you don't treat your military well! They'll just pitch in with the rebels! Ain't that right Russia?

Howdy friend.

Can't speak for other countries. But here are some info on the US military.

Race

Whites are well represented, blacks slightly overrepresented, and Hispanics are underrepresented.

Education

According to the data, our military is not made up of a bunch of uneducated Americans. Overwhelming majority have a High School diploma or above.

Recruitment

Most come from middle or upper class neighborhoods.

Region

About 43% come from the South. A Southern Military tradition may account for this high percentage.

When speaking about the military please remove your foot from your mouth first and can kill the myth that military personnel are uneducated and poor. Here is an Idea to put in your Christmas stocking, most of the people that are in the military are following the tradition of their parents, grand parents, and Great grand parents reguardless of their economic and intelectual standings. I personaly am a 4th generation Enlisted that owns his own Communications company and have Volunteered on 3 different over seas operations.

This seems to be a common mind set amongst the candy assed sideline spectators of the world today.

I would like to see 65-75k, 75-85k, 85-95k.

I think those numbers are fudged, as the last statistics groups 65->245k into one big group, which is ridiculous considering the other groups are moving in intervals of roughly 10k.

I think if you did that, and this is purely a guess on my part, you would find that almost no recruits come from "neighborhood wealth" greater than ~75k. Just a guess, though. I'm sure the Heritage Foundation knows the truth.
