Apparently the sign at the gates of Auschwitz was stolen.

Why?

I'm a history buff so I'm sad to see this happened and fail to see a reason.

I hope they recover it, it is an extremely poignant object that stands as a reminder of the evil of men, and acts as a caution for those who would repeat the Nazi's mistakes.

I think it was probably stolen to order for a collector of Nazi memorabilia.

It would be worth an absolute fortune!
