www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk

A THUG who held a gun to a drinker's head outside a pub and threatened to shoot him has been caged indefinitely to protect the public.

Astonishing CCTV footage shows James Lee Drewitt, 19, being overpowered by the innocent man, who grapples with the gun-toting teenager before headbutting him.

The gun subsequently disappeared and is still missing.

It's quite extraordinary footage.

Edit to add youtube vid

What a hero this guy is.
He came out to check on his wife after hearing gunshots.
Everyone else had run and hid for cover, and i don't blame them, but this guy walks out as cool as a breeze and just squares up to the kid and snatches the gun and then headbutts him.

It was a risky move by the guy but it paid off.

balls off steal comes to mind here, i wish he gave the dumbass a good kicking he derserves it.

I think it was the bets thing to do, you dont pull a gun on a random stranger nuless your not going to use it, so you may as well take your chances and fight back.

It's true and he did headbutt the guy.

Yas never know what happened in the rest of the film.
He may well have whooped him up some more.

I hope the dude gets a damn good lawyer, because he can be sure that there will be charges pressed against him by some moron because he did what was right instead of rolling over like is so common. Props to him for having the brass, too bad lawyers couldn't be dealt with in a similar fashion.

Nope... the guy who disarmed him is being hailed as a hero.
The thug who brandished the gun has been jailed for a minimum of 3 years and they said

He will only be released if the parole board believes he no longer poses a risk to the public.

Which i think will be a while.

Fortunately in the UK... the have-a-go-hero is something that is praised and commended, not sued... well usually anyway.
