New Discovery Regarding Stonehenge

Archaeologists say the remains of another large henge near the River Avon offer clues to the building of Stonehenge and the significance of the river. They had sought the telltale holes for years.

An interesting development. Rivers were of course of great importance historically for a plethora of reasons, some mundane others spiritual.

British archaeologists have found the remains of a massive stone henge, or ceremonial circle, that was part of the ancient and celebrated Stonehenge complex, a find that is shedding new light on how the monument was built and its religious uses.

The new henge, called Bluestonehenge because it was built with blue Preseli dolerite mined more than 150 miles away in Wales, was on the banks of the River Avon, where ancient pilgrims carrying the ashes of their dead relatives began the journey from the river to Stonehenge, nearly two miles away. Some are calling it the "little sister" of Stonehenge.

So the river appears to have had more than a mundane importance, not just being used as transportation to the Stonehenge burial complex. The river was of sacred importance and there was a religious rational for the beginning of the journey to the burial grounds being at this location. AS postulated here:

The fact that the monument was found at the beginning of an avenue leading to Stonehenge and near the river "not only solidifies the view that Stonehenge covers the entire landscape, but also the sacred importance of the river itself," said archaeologist Christine Hastorf of UC Berkeley, who was not involved in the research.

A team led by archaeologist Michael Parker Pearson of the University of Sheffield made the discovery while excavating in the area of Stonehenge during the last several years.

Its findings have suggested that the entire site, which stretched from the river to Stonehenge, was a religious complex where ancient peoples gathered at certain times of the year to celebrate life and bury their dead.

Some of their discoveries have also suggested that Stonehenge was a burial site for early kings.

The team had long suspected there was some kind of monument near the river at the beginning of the avenue leading to Stonehenge, but it had great difficulty finding it, Parker Pearson said in a telephone interview Monday.

"We tried every method we could to prospect for the circle -- radar, magnetic signals, electrical resistance in the Earth -- but we couldn't see anything there at all."

Really rather intriguing. I am no expert, and in all honesty I love the more romanticized views of what Stonehenge was built for. In fact this relic is one of the defining discoveries of my early years that led me on the path towards the unusual. All the same, it is still interesting reading.

All these calender rings or just stone huts in America are for
the equinoxes and solstices.
Which for the management meant they had to wip the masses into shape
to ether plant crops or harvest them.
There is a recent stone calender discovery in Africa and in America Barry Fell
made the determination in his work published as "America B.C."
The rings are the elite or city management tools.

Well back in the day. Planting crops was very important. They didn't have to worry about texting or checking their emails. Food was the number 1 commodity.

I'd say that was very important.

The Elites/Kings have been sticking it to the poor since the beginning of time. The only difference between then and now is that they didn't allow unions while building Stonehenge or the pyramids.

Looks like the elite are paying their PhD lackeys to tell us they
buried their dead where they met and told us to get cracking
and get the lead out and start working for a grain handout.

Who else would be buried by an elite hangout.
So SLAYER69 good to see your post.

Although this the same fact which used for the pyramids? is it not?

pyramids are a grave site
Stonehenge are a grave site

noticed they leak any proof or the existence between the 2 rural important sites, like you said they are been paid to say they were used for graves.

Everyone will do anything for money.

I still don't believe that human slaves in egpyt made the pyramids
other wise we would have found the bodies of those called slaves between the sands by now.

I think we have all seen these two videos:

THE EMPIRE OF "THE CITY" (World Superstate) part 1.avi

THE EMPIRE OF "THE CITY" (World Superstate) part 2.avi

Some interesting ideas but there is a section on where we think people
are slaves are actually displaced rulers.
Some interesting Danes and Vikings tales and a sprinkling of perhaps
some truth.
Perhaps not much though.
