I think this is what you are on about;

In the early days of the US invasion of Iraq the people of Portland, Oregon repeatedly took to the streets to express their grievances with the policies of their government. Despite the protests being peaceful and law-abiding police brutality and repression increased against those who chose to exercise their first amendment rights. In the wake of these events, several federal civil rights lawsuits were filed against the city.

A number of folks that I know personally. And I know several that were involved in some of the other demonstrations. I took part in one in Seattle, in fact.

Fact: Martial law gets declared several times in the U.S. each year. Generally it's in areas that have been devastated by hurricanes, floods, or tornados. In some cases, it's declared in areas where situations have escalated to rioting (the 1968 Democratic National Convention is a good example.) And if I'm not mistaken, it was also declared during some of the recent World Trade Organization problems (the meeting in Seattle.)

I thought that 'Martial Law' means that the Military take control. These protesters were beaten by police, not military. Not martial law, just a few cops taking out their frustrations in a not very nice way.

You guys have never been on the "enforcement" side of a "protest" i see....yes...90% of people just want to be heard...thats it....but its a KNOWN fact that the people who organize these protests hire individuals to incite the crowd and whos MAIN PURPOSE is to be arrested for media attention...they usually will do whatever they have to in order to make a scene...what do you want cops to do to protestors who get out of hand?...For example...last year in NY....there was a very large anti war protest....and all over the news was how cops were "brutal" towards the protestors....I was there...i seen the bs....How some protesters tried to knock over an officer and his horse....how people would sucker punch cops who werent looking...the spitting...kicking...etc...people forget that stuff because everyone loves to tell the "dirty cop" story....

Yes, and you all should know who is really behind most of those protests, its not for peace, they form them to get people to riot. Many protesters actually want to demonstrate for peace, but the protests have been taken over by socialists just to incite more riots.

"Neo-Cons? What About the Neo-Commies?
Rusty Humphries
Friday, May 2, 2003

Neo-Con. Now theres a word that has popped into the public consciousness faster than, gravitas. What the heck does it mean? Naturally, the literal translation is new conservative, but those who use it make it sound like an insult. I picture the Democratic brainstorming meeting, led by James Carville.

(Insert dream sequence music here)

CARVILLE: Okay, yall, we gotta come up with somethin quick. Them darn Republicans and that illegitimate president of theirs is doin everything right. We need to get some kind of word thats gonna make them stupid people in fly-over country think the Republicans are evil and were the good guys. To be honest, that word liberal has been killin us since Michael Dukakis. You got any ideas, boys?

TERRY McAULIFFE: What if we shorten the word Conservative to Con, like a con job?

CARVILLE: Now, that theres a good un! What else?

TIM ROBBINS: Whos the biggest con man of all? Hitler! You know, the way he conned the Germans into following him. Lets try to connect the Reps to the Nazis. If you ask me, I think Republicans are like neo-Nazis.

CARVILLE: Neo-Nazis? Hmmmmm, how about Neo-Cons? NEO-CONS! Thats it!! I LOVE IT! Well link all the Republicans with the neo-Nazi movement. PERFECT now tell all your useful idiots to use this word every chance they get.

*

Well it may not have gone exactly like that. But it might have. The truth is that the more you watch the left at work, the more you see that they aren't acting like classical liberals anymore. The philosophy they preach is really good old-fashioned communism.

Nobody uses the word "communism" anymore, but maybe we should bring it back to expose today's "liberals" for what they are: "Neo-Commies."

Isnt communism dead, you ask? No, communism is socialism run by communists. And socialism, in the United States, is simply "liberalism." Socialist presidential candidate Norman Thomas once said:

"The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."
- Norman Thomas, Socialist Party Presidential Candidate and co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
