Quakes from the 1800s still shaking planet

Is this common knowledge?I have never heard of it before.I have a feeling we are going to need to know as much about earthquakes as possible.

As it happens I am doing a course with the open uni called exploring science, my current reading material is plate tectonics so this was an intresting read for me.
