The word is out that Transformers' director Michael Bay’s next movie would be 2012: The War For Souls, based on the Whitley Strieber novel of the same name.

To be fair it is a very topical subject.
And there's not much shock value in making dramatic 2012 pictures in 2013 onwards is there ?
