The Obama administration supports extending three provisions of the USA Patriot Act that are scheduled to expire at the end of the year, the Justice Department told Congress. The provisions give the government the authority to access business records, operate roving wiretaps and conduct surveillance on “lone wolf” suspects with no known link to foreign governments or terrorist groups. That's it.
A one paragraph story.
Barely worth a mention in passing in the "paper of record".

Here we have all the mainstream media admission you need to prove to you that the red/blue, left/right, democrat/republican divide is a farce being played by the powers that be on a population of willing cheerleaders, and we have near silence.

It also aptly demonstrates the boiling frog syndrome. You've had the patriot act for several years so what's a few years more?

No outrage that I can see this time around.

I'm very glad this story made it back onto the forum after the thread addressing the issue by Protoplasmic Traveler was deleted earlier this morning.
