I wholeheartedly agree with you there. I sometimes wonder if a lot of news is just made up. There are often editiorials in our local papers that I really think are madr up to inflammatory the readers, gets more readers... but you know that.

I just disagree that aftenbladet is purely lies and a tabloid. Not like the British ones ive seen here of Batboy and Hillary Clinton cheats on Bill with a Alien!! and things that just made me want to vomit.

He went there, interviewed some people, etc it rests on their word, so who knows. But like Ive said before it is like the police, you investigate EVERYTHING because they are ALL just claims until you go there. And sometimes there is a situation needs remedying.

Most organized information suppliers want to increase their traffic. From the most corporate commercial to the radical alternative news.

Major commercial news sources have someone in Jerusalem as it's one of the few places in the Middle East where a Western journalist can get around and write practically anything without fear of official reprisal.

So the Swedish journalist picks up a lead some Palestinian family says their son's body was returned by Israel minus vital organs. Now there aren't details of how or why the son was killed. And Israel had the option of saying the body somehow got lost or destroyed if it was compromising.

Bu the reporter connects to an unrelated story of a rabbi in New Jersey being involved in organ purchasing from poor Americans.

So to fuel the conspiracy theories he creates a story talking about both and implies a devious connection.

It sells newspapers.

Now if it's about selling newspapers and tragedy, still the same newspaper doesn't want to send it's reporter to somewhere like the Sudan, where he can interview suffering families to his heart's content 24 hours a day. They will relate how the Muslim government has been killing tens of thousands of children every year.

For one thing the Sudanese government would make short order of the reporter. For another thing, stories of dying, mutilated, starved children in the Sudan don't sell papers like a story about a dead Palestinian boy missing his kidneys.

It's not about informing the readership of world issues that might concern them, it's about finding buzzwords and hot topics that the readership will respond to.

Bad Jew stories sell better than bad Muslim stories. Exploitative tabloid press knows that.

Check on the search engine here and see how many threads you come up with about death in the Sudan. Hundreds of thousands have died at the hands of the government. Then check how many threads there are about deaths in Israel.

It's not about informing the readership of world issues that might concern them, it's about finding buzzwords and hot topics that the readership will respond to.

But NEITHER one concerns 90% of people as long as we have our reality shows and starbucks and fast cars. Or are you implying that one suffering should concern people more than another?

I know exactly how you feel because I used to love Israel too but the reason most people put them in the crosshair is that they actually HAVE THE POWER to stop what goes on!! Now you have military dictatorships in Africa that arent just going to give up their cushy position so it requires a military to stop them. Now if the US actually cared about democracy one tiny bit they would be permanently in Africa before the middle east.

People like us can not do much of anything to help the situation over there. You can donate money, which usually gets stolen. You could volunteer to fight their government, you alone. If you are a doctor you can go help. And probably get killed yourself.

But Israel is not a third world nation they are extremely well off, they have the resources and ability to keep deaths and everything down and we always talk how morally superior we are in the west but many countries that is just not true.

It is like the US, always talking how great they are yet there are countless poor and so many without access to health and ghettoes that create a vicious circle.

Israel is not a wealthy nation. Technologically advanced, able to manage finances, entrepreneurial. Virtuall no natural resources, little arable land, a crippling chunk of their budget spent on defense trying to keep their citizens safe. That includes 1.5 million Muslims Israelis.

The US is a rich country. Millions within are poor. But even something as grim as poverty is relative. The worst off in America have a higher standard of living than half the population of the world. Access to fresh water, enough to eat, medicines and some form of healthcare are luxuries to so many.
