MoD stokes media-paralysing UFO feedback loop

www.theregister.co.uk

Fans of enormous government files will be overjoyed today as the National Archives release the third tranche of accumulated Ministry Of Defence (MoD) UFO-sightings bumf.

The compiled MoD documents are available free here in glorious pdf for one month, after which period downloaders will be charged "a small fee".

"The files cover many sightings reported in 1996, a bumper year for people thinking they'd seen alien spacecraft - and, not coincidentally, the year that alien-invasion blockbuster flick Independence Day came out.

Movie buffs will doubtless recall that in the film dauntless American flyboys, after a bit of haxploitation virus action by Jeff Goldblum, eventually manage to destroy the alien ships using conventional fighter jets and missiles. This appears to be a case of life imitating art, as the new files reveal that Belgian fighter jockeys tried to tackle some UFOs using F-16s in 1990 - though without success in that case."

Can't find a thread to this but heres the direct link to the archives...

Not gone through them myself yet but thought I'd post incase people weren't aware they were being released.

Kind regards,
