FTC plans to monitor blogs for claims, payments

the Federal Trade Commission is paying attention. New guidelines, expected to be approved late this summer with possible modifications, would clarify that the agency can go after bloggers — as well as the companies that compensate them — for any false claims or failure to disclose conflicts of interest.

It would be the first time the FTC tries to patrol systematically what bloggers say and do online.

Well, here's another chunk of freeom falling away like an antarctic ice shelf...if you read the source (an AP story) you will see its couched in semi-rational reasoning to protect consumers, but the end result is the Federal Powers muscling their way further and further into the "troublesome" blogosphere.

Of course! They have lost control of the old style news media, TV , Papers the lot.
As it is now there is very little control of the information that is getting to the Public and the world, and this is world wide!

But the more they crack down the more they are going to be brought to the forefront of what is happening . What I am seeing more of is the governments letting Private company's try to police the internet to keep them self's out of the loop. But as we have seen it is and will backfire on them as the more they do this the more the people will see what is up.

One thing all of us are going to have to learn is we are going to have to stand together, and that way we can fix what is wrong!
