GENEVA - The World Health Organization told members Thursday it is raising the swine flu alert to the highest level. It's the first flu pandemic in 41 years as infections climbed in the United States, Europe, Australia, South America and elsewhere.

After all of the procrastinating, I wonder what was the final straw to make WHO go against the pleading of the different governments. What information do they have that makes the economic fears a non issue?
