America a weapons supermarket for terrorists, inquiry finds

Undercover inspectors manage to buy high-grade gear including nuclear triggers and evade export bans

The US is a virtual supermarket for terrorists and foreign governments seeking high-end military technology, including components that can be used to build nuclear weapons and equip militants fighting US and British troops, the American government has found.

Over the past year, government investigators posing as private buyers purchased military-grade body armour, technology to stabilise and steer guided missiles, a device that can be used to detonate nuclear weapons, and other munitions

Interesting article.

At first I didn't know what to make of it while nearing the end of the article.

This failure of a war on terror took this long to find this out?

Something just didn't add up.

Then the end of the article came

Gregory Kutz of the Government Accountability Office told a congressional panel: "The lack of legal restrictions over domestic sales of these items, combined with the difficulties associated with inspecting packages and individuals leaving the United States, results in a weak control environment that does not effectively prevent terrorists and agents of foreign governments from obtaining these sensitive items."

Maybe that's what it's about, more laws to allow inspections of everyone's packages.

See I truly believe that everything that everyone is for, will one day be against them.

For instance, many believe the war on terror is not propaganda and that muslims are really trying to take over the world. I knew that one day the people who believed this would also be called terroists, which is what the DHS is doing now.

Now they want to inspect North Korea's shipments, soon they want to inspect everything of yours.

So stop and think, don't you believe that everything that you are for, as long as it's done to your enemies, will one day be done to you too?

Good find.

All I had to do was read the title to know this had another meaning.

Why even conduct this type of thing if it isnt to make an excuse to take our rights away?

The United State's top 3 scientific suppliers- VWR, International (then, BDH, as it's privately held) Thermo Fisher and Alcolac, are being sued ( and federally investigated) for selling materials to Iraq to make chemical weapons used against the Kurds.

All three companies are effectively middlemen- they are distributors of everything from latex lab gloves to orgo and inorgo chemicals- to equipment like PCR, Mass-Spec, GC-Mass Spec, HPLC, ICP (all used to work with chemicals at the atomic and sometimes molecular levels)- to protein and DNA/RNA gels, kits for processing nucleic acids and/or proteins, stem cell lines, cancer cell lines, bacteria, fungi and virus material, fermentors, bio-reactors, all the chemicals and reagents needed for the above, data-aquisition equipment and software- the lot.

There are now VERY strict regulations about what may be sold to whom, but it is child's play to get around. Create a false account online, saying you're an Indian, Mexican, Chinese, French research group- pick your country- and have the items shipped to you. Then, have them retrieved. Pay with a one-time credit card, and boom- chemical and biological warfare for dummies.

So- a salesperson for one of hese companies might think they're shipping something to the University of Hamburg for cancer research, or Bombay for protein sequencing of stromelyesin, and not know they are selling ACTIVELY to those who would use the supplies to kill.

Here are a few links- there are many, many more to be found with a quick Google search:

Now- would this be considered domestic terrorism (as in sedition and treason) as well as supplying terrorism with materiel? HMMMMMMM
