So many people are homeless now
you say as if you care
when you walked by me yesterday
you stopped only briefly to stare
So many people are hungry
you say as if you truly feel
when you walked by me yesterday
fattened from your lavish meal
So many people are sad you say
as you slightly smile
when you walked by me yesterday
you were laughing all the while
So many people look tired you say
as you rub your eyes so bright
when you walked by me yesterday
I heard you say you had a restful night
So many people seem angry you say
you said with a gleam in your eye
when you walked by me yesterday
I noticed the tear in your eye
When you walked by me yesterday
I could see that you were blue
When you walked by me yesterday
for the first time you saw the real

I understand the sentiment in your piece, and it is just beautiful, yet sadly true. I worked in a large homeless shelter in the city and have seen the face of the homeless and it is nothing but the face of every man, woman and child we know.

Most Americans are only a few paychecks from being homeless and with this economy now people are finally getting it!

Imagine what it does to a person to be unseen for years and years?

See I don't know why this didn't have a star or a flag. Either way it was incredible and I gave it what I could. Honestly, I think the best poets are those that are well read in others work, as ideas mingle with each other and are not usually solitary. The best work comes from many minds.

It really seriously ended perfectly and I honestly think it would work perfectly as a song too. Amazing work!
