Blackhawks and Carriers at night?

I'm writting this hoping some one else will know more or to see if any one else is experiencing the same thing.

I received a call from an old buddy of mine who I used to do research with, whom lives just down the road. He told me that since 10pm he's been seeing blackhawks escorting carriers, in the direction of TriCities. Other black hawks have been making passes at lower altitudes as well. Sure enough I stuck my head out my window and I can hear something up in the air, and I hear a humming as well from inside my home as I type this.

He didn't know what was going on and called me in case I knew. He's afraid that the Fema Camps are starting up and this is how everything is 'suppose to start' which is by transporting the troops by air at night.

If this is happening in more areas than just here then it is plausible that we really are about to go under martial law or the Red/Blue lists are going to be rounded up..

An idea I had is they may be transporting that flu material we heard so much about with the semi loads and all before we had the 'swine' outbreak.

Personaly I think it's too soon for the Fema Camps, but it's possible that it all starts now.

Any one else experiencing this? Or have mroe to say?

Do you honestly think they are going to just start rounding up American citizens out of the blue with no just cause? Maybe there will be something that initiates martial law in the next few weeks and the soldiers are simply training for something on the horizon but there is a cause and effect scenario that has to play out. The government is not going to randomly just start rounding people up.

yeah, thats why I said that I think it's too early and every thing doesn't feel to in place. But that still doesn't explain what their doing. I can hear them up in the sky about every 2-3 minutes. There isn't any 'testing/training' going on as I can tell.

What you are hearing IS the training.

Pilots train by actually flying.

As I understand they are primarily escorting carriers. I thought escorting was something that happens after training?

And please, when making solid claims, please have something to back it up as fact :/

But theres no strange manoeuvring going on, just pass by and circle around, while more are heading towards TriCities.

Sorry if I'm getting any one stirred up but this isn't exactly normal.

In Oregon.... Loads of Black Hawks.

Only groupings of two at a time, though. A friend and I started noticing a huge increase in them a couple days ago.

Odd. Who knows what is going on, though.

Hmm, well please keep a look out. I'm not sure what to think about this but my buddy is getting scared over it.

I want to know if any one else is noticing anything in other areas.

First post, be nice. Been a lurker for awhile. Glad to finally post something here on ATS and I look forward to many more posts.

I live in a rural area. I would say 80% of helicopters in this area seem to be health care, personal, or non-suspicious, in a sense. As of lately though, I have noticed a huge increase in helicopter traffic in this area. It's been darker when the vast majority of sighting occur, but I have spotted a few around dusk. The one's I have been able to make out, and other things I have noticed, is that they are presumably black, quieter than most, and have very bright lights. The most odd facet of the case is that they seem to always be going in the same directions, and on multiple occasions they are in sets of two. I have rarely ever seen sets of two in my area, but have recently saw this occur twice in a period of two days. Plus, have spotted about eight individual others periodically in the same span.

Probably just nothing, just putting it out there.

Well I was watching one out of my window. I live in lower Yakima valley. It passed nearly directly over head and headed roughly South West. It origonaly was heading south and tweeked towards SW. It's over the edge of the valley by now.

By "carriers" do you mean CH-47 Chinook helicopters, or trucks on the ground? Either way it sounds like training to me. Remember anything, and I mean anything, that is done as a basic move in a war is practiced, and then practiced again.

Next question, why would the military be using medium utility helicopters to escort anything? Even when armed, it's not exactly a gunboat. They're big targets too, a much better choice would be the AH-64 Apache, which we have in large numbers and are actually the helicopters that were designed for the role you've stated.

It's also entirely possible that the Blackhawks you're hearing in the pacific northwest are not even Army at all. The Coast Guard air station at Astoria is a huge base for HH-60 Jayhawks which is the USCG variant of the UH-60 that is used in ocean rescue and is used by the state for firefighting as well. Again all of these pilots need to practice too.

A quick Google News search also shows that the Oregon Army National Guard 186th Infantry is currently doing training for their deployment to Iraq in July and that the Coast Guard is testing out a new avionics package for night rescue in their Jayhawks at Astoria.

Well it would be carriers by. And I wouldn't know for sure. My buddy is the one that sat out side for 2 hours and called me telling me what he saw.

Hm, well thank you for bringing that up. That would explain a lot then. Still want to juice for any more information out there.

Kind of off topic but why are there no major military bases in Oregon or the Northwest in general? Just the USCG and Air National Guard right?

We have a military base several miles north of Yakima.

Washington actually has a ton of Naval bases including a submarine base at Everett. According to About.com they have 32,398 active-duty military personnel there, as compared with say Wisconsin's 909 persons.

You think pilots only practice complex manuevering? Nope, they practice going in a straight line also.

They practice escorting by, wait for it..............

escorting.


Your friend expieranced a night training excercise.

Unless of course you are in a Fema camp right now. If so then I was wrong.
