I can't get a link,(malformed ID)
Just a thought geomagnetic storms from the sun alone
are pretty common, and affect the magnetosphere.
How significant a big blip on that chart is,
I don't know but i'll look it up.

yes you can see something pointing our way at tht moment.

think the sun had major outburst about the time of your spike. these are commom outbursts but i think this one was significant..

also may 5th significant CME with a large type2 radio outburst and they expect it to be followed by another..

STEREO (Behind) spacecraft observed a substantial coronal mass ejection (CME) that was ejected into space (May 5, 2009). The force of the CME also generated a large Type II radio burst, the first one observed in over a year. The COR-2 coronagraph video clip captured the action in frames taken about every 30 minutes over about one day. The source of the CME is an active region (seen as a bright area in the green EUV 195 still) just rotating into view from STEREO Behind, and it is being followed by another.

This cannot be right.

Take a look at the chart today. I cannot find anything like it within my patience threshold.

Just look at the intense differences and now the settled but changed field.

Very odd.

Remember to set to 1 month range and 2000nT
