Not being a spelling Nazi, but this makes ATS look somewhat unprofessional.

Or just get rid of it.

Yeah, I'd kinda like to see it be removed, it's adding to the fear mongering.

That's interesting.
On my browser the banner reads "Swan Flew" so I just thought it was a baby delivery announcement of some sort.

Damn, and here I thought all along it was another banner ad for "the other white meat"

It would look much better if it was drawn in crayon with the "s" backwards. I know seeing banners like that scares the neck outa me. I am afraid to even touch my keyboard for fear of catching cooties. I hear that eating lots and lots of bacon will prevent the swine flue, but touching a football is certain death. Look at what happened in Dallas today.

Huh, interesting I have not noticed but it does say "flue' and not flu....

I would be all for taking the entire banner down though. I understand the need to have a banner that links to all the swine flu threads, however does it really have to be a banner that just reeks of fear mongering?

I mean, it is a big red banner, that says in all capital letters "WHO ALERT SWINE FLU PANDEMIC THREAT LEVEL NOW AT "5" WHO ALERT"

Really? Could we not just have a banner that says, "this way to the swine flu threads?

I say either take it down or change it to something that could not be construed as fear mongering. Not that it was done that way on purpose but it does seem a bit fear mongerish you have to admit.


Oh well, I guess it will be taken down once this whole issue calms down a bit.

I don't like the banner much either . Having said that I think it could be up there to prevent new threads from being started every time the alert changes , just my guess .

Lets remember that do to this Flue outbreak A.T.S had to create a new board to deal with all the threads started by people .

They could replace it with "Yellowstone about to erupt at any minute" or "Cheney to impose martial law and incarcerate all Democrats," or simply "Mars Attacks!!!!" If I had a vote I would say remove it all together as it is both silly and not helpful. With the poor spelling and obvious fear mongering, it makes ATS seem quite wonky.

Don't question the message, be happy that they spelled flu correctly.

Just a guess, but I believe the staff have a sense of humor, which given all the hysteria surrounding this outbreak is rather refreshing.

Any other little things out there we may have missed?

An American Indian who once seen a white man explorer fishing from a river and later walking with the fish to greet the Indians and though they couldn't communicate with language they did exchange things, including some of the fish... The chief gave him the name Walkswithfish. The actual Indian name would be impossible to spell in English.

He was the last peaceful "white man" that tribe would know.

I believe that button is for a person to opt out of following the Flu threads.
