What's going on with the sun?

I'm in Montreal

but does anyone notice anything odd?

The Sun has A MASSIVE DIAMETERRRRRRR RIGHT NOW

but the sun's visible light effect around it?

it's way bigger than I have ever noticed in my entire life

It does look kind of cool , think it has something to do with pollution. It's pretty pollution though.

You have a Sun Halo i am guessing, nothing strange about that, it also happens with the moon aswell. We have a saying that if the moon has a halo around it, it will rain the next day. Not sure if its true but seeing as most sun and moon halo's are caused by ice crystals in the troposhere it may hold some weight.

still something that seems as a side effect of something to me

It does not matter about what it was like last year really, each halo is different whenever they occur, and each has different properties as in to what created it. True it might not be a common sight but its still a beautiful one. I say enjoy it and if you can grab a picture and upload it. Just be sure you block the sun out so you dont damage your camera.

Im in Montreal too, I didn't notice anything unusual with the sun today. Where and when did you see this?
