Man, 84, fights off carjackers with kicks

TACOMA, Wash. - An 84-year-old man has a black eye, but he still has his car, after fighting off two would-be carjackers.

Ted Mazetier said he stopped Wednesday night to help two men with a disabled car when one punched him in the face and demanded his keys. Mazetier said he kicked the man in the groin and the other in the belly.

The two men fled as a passer-by stopped to help.

This old guy has some balls and I'm glad he fought off his attackers. He deserves a medal and the two crooks deserve some time behind bars. Trying to hijack an 84 year old man...what a couple of cowards!

But sadly, he probably will never again stop to help anyone. Whereas 30-40 years ago it was common for people to be good samaritans, now it is just too dangerous. And while the crime is bad enough on its face, even more damage is done to society by making people suspicious of each other. Instead of helping people in distress, they will just drive on.
