More than a few are poised to make a bundle of profit off the the recent hitting Swine Flu outbreak that hit Mexico hard, and has a few active cases in the U.S.

CEO Rahul Singhvi. said that "There is an emergency authorization avenue that is available that would allow us to use the vaccine in an emergency without further testing,"

Still, the companies stock will have to go even higher for Kleiner Perkins to make its investment back. Both BioCryst and Novavax experienced long drops from price peaks in 2006, when reports of avian flu dominated headlines.

Anyone else see how conveniently poised this is?

Yes it makes me really angry to imagine that ordinary people could possible be used as guinea pigs! This is a great video to get you really mad, imagine what it feels like for the people in Mexico!

Pharmaceutical stocks are expected to rise on Monday morning, after Roche and GlaxoSmithKline said they may need to supply millions of vaccine doses to help protect against the swine flu that has killed up to 81 people in Mexico.

Vaccines from Roche, which sells Tamiflu, and GSK, maker of Relenza, have been shown to work against viral samples of the new disease. The drugs were also used to help protect against outbreaks of bird flu in Asia, providing windfall profits for the companies.
