firehose?????

So I might be being very slow here, but I have been at work for the last 24 hours, but I'm sure when I left yesteday the "news firehose" button wasn't there.

I've had a look around an cant find anything except a post relateing this to twitter, is that what this is I.E. is this what appears on twitter?

It's a means for members to quickly and easily check out the latest submissions to the Breaking Alternative News Forum to make sure their submission is not a duplicate.

I saw it also. My opinion it is not needed. There is a front page, and also now the obnoxious header on every board.

We also now have a general ATS Firehose that applies the same idea, but to all other new ATS topics.

This way you can keep track of new topics, literally as they're being posted.

Personally I quite like the way the toolbar is developing...

I can get to most of the places on the site now in just a couple of clicks, these new ones make checking even quicker....

Oh, this is perfect! I was just wondering what on earth the 'hose' tabs were for and couldn't figure it out even while browsing them.

This is great. I've seen the request for a 'Recent Thread' page quite often in the BBQ suggestions thread. It's so nice to now have a page that displays all new threads in order along with the recent post page that displays them in recent posts order. Thanks so much!

Well I applaud it loudly...in fact I recall making a request for just such a feature. Not to pat my own back here; but I for one will enjoy it although my free time has been greatly reduced lately.

I absolutely love this feature. It was on my number one wishlist for ATS!

Yes, that is exactly why it is there. I am finding it to be quite handy too, I might add.

The concept of "fire hose" for busy websites has come to mean a dedicated feed or page that provides a real-time look at all incoming topics.

We now have three of these topic firehoses...

I'm experimenting with a few methods of allowing our members to construct and share
their own ATS topical firehoses. For example, a member could create a "9/11 & Political Conspiracies" firehose, save in their MyATS page, and also share that link with others.
