Been in Tae Kwan Do for about a year and a half now, but haven't done any tournaments.
Reason was, had a lot of issues with scheduling, work, and actual desire to do it.

Finally, every things open, and I'll be doing my first tournament next week, on the 25th.

Signed up for the High Jump, Long Jump, Forms, and Sparring.

All goes well, I won't make a complete fool of myself. Just a partial fool.

1.5 years...Thats great, so are you blue belt?
What TKD code do you practice?
I did it from 9-28, I wish I kept it up

The best stretching by far in any excercise, even better than yoga I say, because you really get the heart rate up before the flexibilty training.

Good luck, when you spar, dont worry about bouncing like a boxer so much as making a connection from a punch or kick strike. Dont worry about over extending yourself on a roundhouse, slip kicks etc just go for the simple strikes that you can connect on and you'll do great.
If you are mid range belt, go on the attack, the other person will freak and be forced to defend, and when they have their guard up a side strike punch to the head will win you the points, and they wont expect it!!!

Let us know you go.

Shiza - Gunye!

Heh, close. Purple.
I'm a little more solid on my feet than most of the people I spar with, I make up for it though by being quick, and my instructors have stopped correcting me, since I've made it work.
And I keep falling for the head shots... not used for people aiming there.

Got third in long jump. Was going against the black belts, last colored belt jumping.
Didn't place in high jump, my leg was to sore to jump high.
Got second in traditional forms, and third in sparing, both got me trophies.

Good for you..

I took Shorin-Ru for about awhile, unfortuantly the doubled the cost of the class and I was unable to continue. It is very challenging sport.

I'm sorry you weren't able to continue with Shorin-Ryu, I've heard it's a really challenging style of martial arts.

Thanks, it's the first time I've gotten a trophy for something,

Well done, the 2nd in forms is the most important I think
you get that right, you get the rest right

Put those yellow/gold painted tin trophy's up proudly, they my help distract the aliens....

You inspired me: I've gone back to training, I ve gone 5 times, and I cant lift my arms...so sore, man it realy is the best overall cardio and muscular training hey?
Congrats Again! I need to go and take much much much Ibeprofen to kill the pain...

Congratulations.

I've been thinking about putting my daughter into TKD when the school year resumes in September. She seems interested and I'm not one of those parents that has something scheduled every day for her so we have the time.

Keep up the good work RS.

It's definitely worth it, the people at my studio are good people, and you can benefit from that and physical exercise. A lot of people don't realize that while they're having fun, they can also learn something that may help them later on.

Good luck man!!!!
Hats-off for the dedication that hard training requires. Good for confidence, fitness, self-defense, goal setting and life in general.
Martial Arts has been amongst the most rewarding pursuits of my life.
keep it up man.

Im still sore! God, I can't believe how much skill Ive lost in the last few years! I feel like the training in Nacho Libre if you have seen that movie...Useless!

Just reporting in:
Stretching is improving, kicks are getting better,
spinning kick= useless.
Heart cardio I though would be good as I run daily, ppfffttt! I needed to be shocked, emergency stat clear!!!! ...after sparring.
I was worked so hard last night I nearly was sick....hahaha
