I was thinking today how the pledge of allegiance is essentially a prayer.

One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

This states a belief system:

1) God himself mandates the existence and mission of the United States.
2) The United States will not cease to exist until the world ends.
3) The United States offers liberty and justice to all.

State secession movements will be difficult to gain public popularity for because of this religious belief. And our oppressive government KNOWS this.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The civil war was started over states rights the threat of secession of the southern states . Any attempt of secession most certainly bring a second Civil war .

If I am correct on remembering Texas is the only state that when it joined the union didn't wave its right to secession from the union .

Rather than a religious belief holding the union together it will be more of a political issue and a control issue of the President and Congress .
