North Korean Missile Launch Was a Failure, Experts Say

www.nytimes.com

North Korea failed in its highly vaunted effort to fire a satellite into orbit, military and private experts said Sunday after reviewing detailed tracking data that showed the missile and payload fell into the sea. Some said the failure undercut the North Korean campaign to come across as a fearsome adversary able to hurl deadly warheads halfway around the globe.

While North Korea claimed the launch as a sucess, we now understand that it was actually a failure. While North Korea still has to master the technology for a satellite launch and an ICBM, the fact that the missile/satellite crossed Japan proves that North Korea has the capability to strike Japan.

North Korea, Iran and Venezuela form a coterie and Iran about 2 months back had launched a satellite succesfully

The big global statement that North Korea was making has not materialized, however this should not be any relief to countries in the region and US since, many countries have had thier intial launches as a failure and have suceeded later.

North Korea is bound to suceed at some stage

Yeah, I have to concur with the previous poster, there's enough N. Korea threads covering this topic as it is.

That's a major disappointment, but nothing is over yet. The case will enter the UN debate where a strong disagreement between Russia, China and the USA could lead to an armed conflict paving its way to WWIII -- the Holy Grail of online paranoia.

The North Korean aerospace engineers should definitely improve their German . . .
