This thread simply asks what you think of the Presidents of the United States. Were they good or were they bad and please give reasonable...uh... reasons for each one. If you must use a source, please try not to use Wikipedia, especially if you are giving a lesser known fact or idea, etc. Your decision doesn't have to be based solely on the presidency, you may also include other aspects of that person's life including private and public life. Actions and ideas held by that president are also of value.

I have said this many times over the past 20 years but never on this forum. So here goes.

We have not had a President of the stature of Washington since Washington.

We have not had a President of the stature of Lincoln since Lincoln.

We have not had one of the stature of FDR since FDR.

And unfortunately, we will never have one of the stature of Reagan, ever again.

The rest of the US Presidents, the ones that I didn't mention are the also rans. Unfortunately for us, there are a lot of them.

Roosevelt (FDR) was a good president as the WPA was organized in his term and it was the only federally funded program that actually helped the middle class and put post war men to work and their work still stands today.

JFK might have been a good president, but I would have rather seen his brother Robert been president.

Clinton was not a good president in my opinion as I believe he leaked a lot of information to the Chinese in order to gain good relations but it really didn't help. I think it was terrible the way his private life was invaded.

Since Lincoln the only good ones were FDR and Reagan in his first term.
His second term was nappy time. The worst since Lincoln?
Wilson, Carter, Obama and Kennedy.
Nixon was bad, but not the worst.
He only got caught doing what the rest of them do.

There can be no right or wrong answers, as they all depend upon your own political preferences/ penchant for leadership styles.

My favourite are:

Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, JFK, Reagan (and to a certain extent Clinton).

The rest are mediocre.

As was already pointed out, good / bad is subjective, however
my favorite Would be Franklin D. Roosevelt and least favorite, G.W. Bush.

FDR overcame a severe physical handicap and adversity to become one of the most powerful men on the planet. Additionally he rallied our country through a world-wide economic crisis and war. (Sound familiar?) Factoid: Only President to serve 4 terms.

GWB did more to undermine human rights, the environment, fiscal responsibility and our constitution that any POTUS prior.

Source: Somewhere in my gut.

This site will help some with a little history of each of them. Some good and some bad. My personal opinion is regardless of if they were good or bad...if any of them were against the central banking sytem then they get the thumbs up from me.

www.timesonline.co.uk...

I am personally a fan of Theodore Roosevelt myself.

5. Theodore Roosevelt

1901-09 (Republican)

The youngest ever President, Roosevelt, 42, was a progressive Republican and tried to move the GOP into more radical territory. His “square deal” policies included greater regulation to protect consumers, attacks on corporate monopolies and conservationism to safeguard wildlife and the American wilderness.

In foreign policy, he oversaw a major expansion of the Navy, ordered the construction of the Panama Canal and won the Nobel Peace Prize for mediating the Russo-Japanese War.

"Controversially reset America's compass for the 20th century." Gerard Baker, US editor.
