Schenectady's Corporation Counsel John Van Norden said, "If you abolish the police department you still have a need - not an obligation - but a need to police the community. You would need something in transition. Declaring martial law would be one way to bridge the gap."




Ok, so I know this is only going down in a a small area of New York, but Schenectady is still a city of over 60,000 people and declaring martial law, even temporarily, seems an excessive solution to replace 5 bad officers.

Could this be a test market for other cities, perhaps larger ones?

nevermind.... lol well come one if the town has been fine with 5 criminal cops... I am sure they will be fine on there own for a few weeks...

wow, i live right down the road basically in colonie.its a suburb of Albany. hopefully something like this doesnt happen. that would be just be not right over 5 cops that were drinking on the job or involved with drugs. i think it was something like that i heard it a week or 2 ago and dont feel like confirming it
