Kellogg chief: Food safety must be strengthened

www.iht.com

The head of Kellogg Co., the world's largest cereal maker, planned to urge Congress on Thursday to revamp how the government polices his industry. Kellogg lost $70 million in the recent salmonella outbreak, after it had to recall millions of packages of peanut butter crackers and cookies.

Mackay's call for major changes could boost President Barack Obama's efforts to overhaul the system. Last week Obama launched a special review of food safety programs.

The end of family farms and gardens is here!
If you watch MSNBC, or read Politico, you will see that the CEO of Kellogg has now become the spokesperson/patsy for this subterfuge.

He is to appear before Congress and speak of the need for "food safety protections" and "inspections and reports" for everyone involved in providing food to the public.

Of course, Kellogg can afford an extra staffer and will benfit from reduced competition for it and its subsidiaries' products, most of which fall into the category of "JUNK FOOD!"

What a crock!

This comes at a time when Monsanto, through a "bought and paid for" U.S. Senator is pushing for the end of family farms and our access to farmers' markets!
