Allowing the embedding of external images can bring about some nasty business. Imagine having someone that has embedded hundreds of perfectly fine
images into their posts over a year or so suddenly going rogue on some website and then changing those images on their web space to something nasty.
Suddenly that nice picture of a flower becomes something pornographic. Suppose some forum member has been inserting pictures from their web site in
all their posts for years suddenly get banned because of some dispute and then they turn around and replace all those images with something nasty.
That could create a nightmare for the admins, first having to search for them, and then having to remove them. And then you have the issue of images
just disappearing merely because someone shuts down their web space too, and that can look ugly. Also, I never liked it when you go to a thread, and
suddenly find that it's taking 10 minutes to load the page because some dude has embedded a dozen half megabyte images in their post that YOU MUST
see. If I want to look at someone's silly little fake UFO photos or whatever, I'll click on the link, I don't need it all slowing me down while
they load in the middle of a threaded conversation.
