Just as ziggystar60 linked it's pretty common to see the moon turn orange/red when it's rising or setting. Seen this many times over the years, very
pretty and very different to the 'normal' white moon we know.
On the beam I have no idea what it could be, maybe some sort of atmospheric horizon diffraction?
This was a shot from a few weeks back around 4 a.m
By the time of taking the shot it was already turned orange but when it just rose above the horizon it was looking dark red.
The camera was still finishing long exposures close up of the milky way, so unfortunately couldn't take a pic then.
