Ok I am not sure what you guys think of this, but I live in NYC and I cannot afford to buy a safe house and stock it all by myself.

So I was thinking why not split one with some other ATS members.

Obviously we would have to meet in person before hand to make sure we trust each other and are compatible. But knowing myself as being able to get along with most everyone. I think maybe this might work.

So I wanted to get your guys thoughts on something like this.

I i were you i would arrange to meet us at the nearest Dunkin Doughnuts first and get a personality profile.

You never know how safe you will be with some of us.

Good idea, though.

Good luck.

That's a good idea. Think of it as a survival co-op. I've somewhat started something like that here with a few friends, by buying food and other survival provisions a lot cheaper in bulk. I fronted the money to buy a pallet of freeze dried provisions, and then kept 1/5th for myself and sold the rest to others at 4/5th the total cost. A win-win solution.

Capitalism is dead, and socialism will never fly for long either, but small (optional and voluntary) co-ops may save the day. I'd join you in your idea if I lived in NYC.

I live in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area and would be really interested in starting something like this with those that live here, a survival club/co-op. In numbers, we can accomplish greater things, provided it is all optional/voluntary, and everyone contributes equally in some form or another.

I'm gonna have to think about this some more and see how this would work out. I mean, I can't afford to buy myself my own sovereign island, but maybe if others are interested we could form our own way of life and opt out of this current insanity.

Good idea.

At which point is the penis removed and flambéed?

I just want to make sure we're on the same wavelength first, lol

I think she wants to be sure that your not going to:

A. try to s@## her.
B. Try to dominate the situation.
C. She wants you to cook

Good idea. Upstate NY is as secure as it's gonna get. I also like northern Vermont. East long Island has a lot of good things about it. Temperate. Ocean access. Wild game. The highway out to the East End could easily be blockaded.

Maybe you should write up a proposal and a 'must have's' 'can't stand' list to screen potential comrades. Anyone interested write their own list and you see who you jive with.

Try to get out of NYC. Last time I was there in Jan I could feel how diseased it was. Felt very beaten down. The luster was gone. The edge so dulled. People seemed to be shell-shocked.

Lots of people are going to give you s%*t about this post, but don't be discouraged.

Are pets allowed? I have 2 big cats. Don't mean 'wild', they're just over 19lbs. (One's 21). Are quiet and privacy freaks allowed? Not meaning non-contributive, just non-social, and HATE loud music, TVs, etc., and I hate kids. Not in an altruistic sense, I hope they have top-notch guardianship by someone else (out of range..) Geez, the more I list, the more I realize, welllllll ......... (?)

I have been giving this lots of thought over the past few months. I have saved a good amount of money and can purchase lots of supplies. But I do not have the means to buy the property to put it on. But can help build a building (have built homes in the past).

It may sound mean, but I think children under the age of 15 would be a hindrence as well as seniors over 75 (depending on their health, 85 is welcome if they are in good shape). My thinking is that this is meant as survival so babysitting ill or incapable humans can make things rather difficult.

In response to the person asking about cats or dogs being ok, I would say yes if the cats have NOT been declawed and dogs yes especially if they are sensitive to things(bark when they sense something). I dont mind people who keep to themselves just as long as they realize they would be sharing a space with other people

Well I have several tens of thousands to spend on supplies, and can help build virtually anything.

I feel like we only have the summer to get prepared. I live on Long Island now, but have a home in Charlotte NC, so would be more than happy to setup a place down there as well.

Well I look forward to hearing back from everyone.

OP~ Sounds like a good plan to me! I'm already in NY, about 1.5 hours north of NYC. Someone brought up the pet factor.......I wouldn't go anywhere without my dogs, so that is definitely an important issue! What are we looking at as a preliminary plan? Were you thinking up in the mountains, catskills area?

Catskills are great. Your dogs would be more than welcome, what kind are they for curiosity?

Do you have a place over there? or know the area well? I think it would make most sense to buy land and then build the structure on it tailored to our specs.

What are your thoughts on this?

The way to progress on this would be to find and meet with the other people who are interested in doing this. Then settle on a good group and go from there. at least thats what makes sense to me.
