I just thought that maybe this would be of interest to some folks here. I would love to know what you think about it. Personally, I see it as yet another intrusion into our lives by Comrade Obama and his little team of socialists. I just hope that there are enough people in DC with enough common sense to not allow this to go any further then ithas now.

And, from your article:

But later Friday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said that a miles-driven tax is not and will not be an Obama administration policy.

I doubt this will ever happen on the federal level; too much outrage at even the idea, much less the implementation.

Yes, they did say that, but, its not like Obama can not change his mind, seems he's been doing alot of that so far . Besides, it is not even the tax that infuriates me, its the added intrusion of the government by tracking how far i drive and using a gps system to track me.

they are ready have a gasoline tax, which is a miles driven tax; if you Drive more than others, you tend to buy more gas, thus you pay more TAX. So are they going to amend that tax to make it higher

I know alot of the tax goes to state road construction, which is exactly where it should go.

------------------------

They have a decent system in place. pay at the pump. leave it washington to try and create a whole new system when the old one isnt even broken.

no, the proposal was to make a new tax that was based on each and every mile you drive. Using a GPS tracking system to monitor the miles you drive then tax you based on that. As was mentioned in the article and by another poster, it has been said that Obama would not support such a tax, but it is best to be on the look out for it now if you ask me, as he has allready shown his ability to say one thing and so another while you are not looking.
