Rush Defense(ish)

RUSH DEFENSE

Just what does that mean?
You may have to visit DATS for it to be seen.

If you don't want to answer the questions that arise
Just apply the "Rush Defense" and tell no lies.

There's a way around the truth if one must know.
So I devised the "Rush Defense" sometime ago.

It's an unwritten rule in BTS.
The answer isn't "No", the answer isn't "Yes".

There is a gray area in between the two you see.
Guarded with your answers is what you need to be.

So feel free to use it when the truth you must appease.
There is only one condition.......you must provide me with one hynotiq please.

Can You Hear Me?

Can you hear me? I have a lot to say.
But you tell me to "Hush!" and then walk away.

All you hear is the tone of my voice.
The words I say are not by choice.

I tell you how I feel, I cannot lie.
To hear what I say, you don't even try.

I'm entitled to my feelings, they are what they are.
You can't deny me them or push them away so far.

So I choose not to talk, and then you wonder why?
"Think about it.", I say.........only to be let down with a sigh.

How else can I express to you just how I feel,
Other then to use the words that you will eventually kill?

So off to the other room I go, why bother staying here?
I'll find my friends online as they always have a willing ear.

They can't hear the tone of my voice or see the expression in my eyes.
They can only read my words, my feelings they will not compromise.

And yet they feel me more than you,
It doesn't seem possible, but it's true.

Or maybe I'll find some paper to write down my thoughts
That way if you find it I can escape your criticizing shots.

"You have no right to feel that way!"
Those are always the first words that you have to say.

Right, wrong or indifferent....they are what they are.
I'm sorry that they don't fit into your liitle jar.

Aww ANT, thank you. That is really sweet, it really is and I love my friends here and most days I don't know what I'd do without all of you, and the hypnotiqs and the darts and the occasional shots of tequila, properly administered of course.

Effect/Affect

Effect or Affect, which one should it be?
There are several members at DATS who are trying to confuse me.

Talk of byproducts, verbs, nouns and pretense.
Rush is confused and none of it makes any sense.

I asked a simple question, a simple answer I sought.
Then the 'Fighters' joined in and more confusion they brought.

For pages and pages the discussion went on.
My original question I should have withdrawn.

In the end it was decided that for Rush both apply.
I'll use the one that fits my mood, to think hard about it.....I won't even try.

A Drive

Hmmm, if I could just drive, where would I go?
Would I turn around and come back, or whisper to myself, "NO!".

I'll hit the back roads until I decide,
Just which direction to take, then get ready for a ride.

I could go to the desert and gaze at the stars all around.
How peaceful it would be, for miles to not hear a sound.

I could go to where the peaks meet the sky so still.
My mom showed me a mountain when all I saw was a hill.

I could go to that mountain where my mom still lays.
To find peace and comfort, just sit back frozen in a daze.

I could go to the beach, and let me feet touch the sand.
Take a long walk, holding a strong and secure hand.

I could drive into the city in search of bright lights.
Absorb the fast pace and take in all the sights.

I could go visit old friends, catch up on old times.
If I do that then I'd better stock up on the tequila and limes.

I could go to the country and just sit by the stream,
And gather my thoughts, my visions and my dreams.

But for now I am in my garage with the van in reverse,
The kid's come out yelling, "Mom what's for dinner?", and so ends this verse.

The Distance Full of Greed

How can I help a friend who is in need,
When I can't be there, the distance full of greed.

How can I hold their hand or touch their cheek,
or give them my shoulder to lean on when they are weak.

How can I tell them those comforting words that they long to hear,
"It's going to be ok, I promise you dear.".

I want to follow those words with a supportive embrace,
Then look into their eyes and see a smile fall upon their face.

I wish I could be there for you my friend, you know that I do,
if the distance between us wasn't go great, I'd be holding you.

Just know that I'm thinking about you, your emotions I guard,
I just wish I could be there when these times are so hard.

So read my words and hear what they say,
I promise you that tomorrow will be a better day.
